The focal point of this Castle Rock master bath built in the early 2000s had been the massive jacuzzi tub with its bulky surround, something the current owners just didn’t use that often.
Designers Alexis Rubin and Kristina Stack of Denver Design Group wanted to keep the bath a luxurious, albeit smaller, feature and to expand the footprint of the shower to create a daily oasis.
“For some reason, in bathrooms built in this era, the bath was huge and the shower was tiny. The modern bathroom now emphasizes the shower because that’s what we use most often. We made this one light, bright and inviting,” Alexis says.
The expanded shower features a frameless surround with marble wildflower accent tile, built-in bench seating and a rainhead faucet. The soaker tub features a crystal chandelier with gorgeous views of the mountains.
“One of the things the homeowner talked a lot about was wanting to soak in her free-standing tub with a glass of wine and having this relaxing space where she could go to escape everything else,” Alexis says.
The designers say they love the mix of materials. The warm vanity ties into the wood floors in the master bedroom, while the sleek Porcelansosa flooring and wall tiles give the look of marble with the durability of porcelain.
