Designing Dreams: Eileen Gould Design & Construction

There’s something almost magical about a well-designed space that makes one feel comfortable and at ease from the moment they enter. Whether a hotel lobby or a family home, interiors that speak to us are no accident, rather they are created and planned with intention and meticulous attention to every detail, thanks to the talent and skills of industry professionals like Eileen Gould.

“I can walk into a room with clients and know exactly what needs to be done,” says Gould, who for more than 25 years has helped clients turn their visions into reality as owner and founder of Eileen Gould Design & Construction.

“We are a one-stop shop for clients looking to build or remodel,” says Gould, a certified interior designer and general contractor. “From inception to completion, we offer full design and building services, including plans, permits, shopping, masonry, construction, color selection and labor—we’ll even fill the candy dishes!” she adds.

Foundations

A graduate of Penn State and The Medical College of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Science degree, Gould began her career as a medical technologist. She moved to Los Angeles from Philadelphia after a trip to visit an aunt in California with three friends and worked in Century City for a celebrity doctor, drawing blood from many famous actors before finding her true calling. After taking design courses at the Designers Guild and UCLA, Gould started her design business in 1981.

One of the first women to receive a contractor’s license more than 25 years ago, Gould takes great pride in her work, bringing her talent, experience and expertise to every project, including commercial and residential buildings, luxury homes, restaurants, retail spaces, boutique hotels, spas, hair salons, yacht clubs and yoga studios.

Creations

Gould’s enthusiasm for creating fabulous, comfortable spaces and making people’s environments sustainable, natural, stable, beautiful and safe is evident in the incredible results of her efforts and her numerous satisfied clients, who know they can count on the fact that “we do what we say we are going to do,” says Gould.

Her projects have ranged from set design for Clorox and Wesson Oil commercials to high-end residential redesigns. She has created interiors for hospitals, dental and optometrists’ offices, apartment building lobbies and design houses. Whatever the project, Gould is confident her clients will be content with the outcome.

“At the end of the job, you’re going to love me—I love what I do and I have a passion for what I do,” says Gould—who also won a designer’s challenge on HGTV.

A self-proclaimed workhorse, Gould also teaches Design and Construction at Conejo Valley Adult School, providing instruction on how to design and remodel kitchens and bathrooms, and wrote a DIY book, Eye on Design.

Whether it’s adding a wall, remodeling, retrofitting homes for seniors, designing and staging a home or building from scratch, Eileen Gould Design & Construction is ready to ensure a smooth and enjoyable process from beginning to end. Also certified in photovoltaics and ADA requirements, Gould and her team oversee each and every detail, saving clients time, worry and money.

“You can rest easy knowing that your project will be executed in a timely manner and with the utmost integrity and respect for your privacy,” says Gould, who especially enjoys working with clients to fulfill their dreams.

“We never do the same design twice,” says Gould, who finds inspiration in nature, travelling, reading and the ocean. A yogi who likes to journal and meditate, Gould also holds an MBA from Goldman-Sachs.

“There’s not many of me out there—I’m sort of an anomaly.”
