Pretty much everyone in Vinemont knows twin brothers Chris and Pat Thompson, the former having spent time on the town council, and the pair having opened the wildly popular Man Cave Market in 2020.
The brothers were wholesale plant distributors for more than 20 years before they opened the plant nursery/shop/hang-out spot in April of that year. Believe it or not, it was the Thompsons’ literal man cave prior to that.
“We sold plants wholesale to florists all over Alabama, and during the pandemic we opened to sell to locals because all the florists were closed,” they said.
As it’s now February, the month for everything lovey-dovey, I asked the pair about the most popular items at The Man Cave Market for Valentine’s Day.
“We have beautiful orchids with a nice selection of pottery,” they said. “We also have a large selection of tropical plants, succulent gardens and popular snack items!”
If you haven’t visited the market, you really should check it out. And if you feel inclined to just hang out and enjoy the atmosphere - do it!
“Our customers enjoy the relaxing ambiance, listening to classic rock and roll and the tropical jungle sounds in the tropical room for a feel-good vibe,” they told me in the past.
While it’s still chilly outside, it’s best to focus on inside plants.
“The benefits of indoor plants are the beauty they add to the home, and they also they purify the air,” they said. “The Sansevieria plant is a very good example.”
But spring will be here soon, and The Man Cave Market has a special on-premises landscape garden where you can see what your landscape would look like with your ideal trees and plants.
“Creating a landscape garden adds value to your property, which usually encourages neighbors to do the same, adding value to the whole neighborhood,” the brothers said.
You can find The Man Cave Market at 17897 U.S. Highway 31 North in Vinemont. Check it out online at www.facebook.com/themancavemarket and www.themancavemarket.net.
