When it comes to designing the perfect dining room, Alisa Popelka, Owner of Alisa Cristine Interiors, advises that homeowners start with a clean slate and let the décor pieces tell the story.

“There are many factors that come into play when choosing décor to style a room – scale and balance, layers, textures and color, so each piece I choose has to compliment the overall design aesthetic I want to achieve in the space,” Alisa says. “Each piece works together to complete a room.”

01 “A no-fail classic color palette is always blue and white,” Alisa says. “Outside of neutrals, there is no color with a more wide appeal than blue, which is both masculine and feminine.”

02 Accessories add color and a bit of whimsy. “I immediately knew we needed to lighten this space, and color would be incorporated in the forms of art, greenery and décor,” Alisa says.

03 Built-in cabinets are both attractive and functional. The glass fronts allow the homeowner to display favorite pieces, and the counter top offers space for food and beverages.

04 Alisa says the light fixture, with more than 150 crystals, is the “wow factor” in this room. “It was the perfect piece to balance the more masculine design elements in the space,” she says.

05 Above all else, let the room be a reflection of you. “Style is completely dependent on personal taste,” Alisa says. So be sure to incorporate pieces that are personal.
