The Lansdowne Resort is comprised of 500 bucolic acres overlooking the Potomac River Valley in Leesburg, the ideal weekend getaway for Washingtonians looking to escape the swamp. This resort is tailor-made for athletic couples or families with young children with energy to burn. The two tennis courts, three pickleball courts, basketball court, and fitness center are all state-of-the-art. After a rigorous workout, you can indulge in the heated pool, hot tub, or a leisurely ramble or bike ride through the nature trails.

The Aquatic Complex is a study in poolside glamour with personal cabanas and drinking and dining accessible from your lounge chair. The kids will make a splash in the waterslide and waterfall features. Golfers can tee it up at three of the region’s finest courses open to the public. The Robert Trent Jones Jr. course makes the most of the area’s rolling terrain. The Greg Norman course, designed by one of the game’s best-known stars, plays along the Potomac, through hardwood forest, and past rocky outcroppings, and includes a four-hole stretch that the Shark himself labeled “the hardest mile in golf.” Especially fun for junior golfers is Norman’s “SharkBite” course, nine entertaining holes with enough charm and challenge to guarantee a good time.

The Lansdowne Golf Academy will help players improve and build confidence. Instruction is available one-to-one, in groups, and with a range of programs for children starting at age four. The Academy is one of the few facilities in the region with advanced biomechanics systems to capture and analyze every component of the swing. Then, there’s the spa: Spa Minérale, where the body, mind and spirit are ensconced in luxury.

In addition to a traditional menu of services, steam rooms, dry saunas, and salon services are available for couples, groups, and bridal parties. The resort’s experiences range from gourmet to casual, with regional cuisine and tavern fare, perfect for a date night or midday lunch with the kids. Lansdowne’s conference rooms and easy access to regional airports and Washington make it an ideal gathering place for business leaders or large groups.
