What started out as an investment quickly became a passion for Chad Spears, Owner of Discover Strength. He shares, “As I began to understand the true, long-term, benefits of strength training, I became super passionate about it. Having spent most of my life as an athlete and coach, I’ve always associated strength training with athletic performance. Learning about the importance of strength training for people of all ages has been [enlightening to say the least].”
Between his growing family in Castle Pines, a full-time career as a partner in a consulting firm and being the Head Boys Varsity Volleyball Coach at Castle View, Chad knows how to invest his time well.
Chad starts, “The concept at Discover Strength is twice a week, 30 minutes each. It’s very effective, high intensity. Ideal for busy professionals.”
He talks about when he first did the workouts: he couldn’t believe the impact and effectiveness.
His general manager, Kyle Edgar, shares, “Our core purpose as a company is to lead the movement in evidence-based exercise. We reference the literature, [do the] research and we pool the evidence to identify what the most effective and efficient approach to strength training is.”
Chad continues, “One thing that is very different about us as opposed to other concepts is we require all of our exercise physiologists to have at least a four-year degree in exercise science, so they really understand the biomechanics, the movement, the reason why we’re doing the things that we’re doing and can explain it to our clients.”
“I feel great that we’re in a spot to benefit the community because this program is so crucial to long-term health,” he adds. “We got a call from a client who has been working out with us for three months now, and she was scheduled for a knee replacement. Her doctor canceled it because of the strength she’s built up around that knee to support it!”
For their team, safety comes first. Chad emphasizes, “So, very slow rep speed, very deliberate in everything we’re doing and one-on-one time with a personal trainer to walk through all of it.”
Discover Strength welcomes clients from 10 years old and up. From business professionals, busy parents and anyone with aches and pains, Chad’s team makes it their ambition for each client to feel and move better through their training.
“I had a client around 60 who hadn’t been active in quite a while. I was training her for a few months and she came in one day and said, ‘For the first time in 20 years, I can bend over and tie my shoes.’ So, it's just little things like that that make it so worth it,” Chad gleams. “It makes me a little bit emotional because it’s just so good for the community and for individuals to give them the confidence to get out there again and start moving around.”
Kyle specifies, “We are professionals in the health and wellness space. We want to be a resource for the Parker community. Our strategic niche and area of true expertise is personalized strength training.”
With values centered around servant leadership, being the author of your own future, embracing the benefits of being a lifelong learner and keeping everything science-based, Discover Strength is made up of a team that knows how to curate movement in a meaningful and impactful way.
