  • ¼ cup packed dark brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 cup apple whiskey
  • 1 cup your favorite hot sauce
  • ½ cup cherry cola
  • ¼ cup grenadine
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • Vegetable oil, for frying
  • Kosher salt
  • Cracked black pepper
  • 2 pounds chicken wings, separated into drumettes and flats (wing tips discarded)
  • Blue cheese crumbles, for garnish

Sauce Instructions

Combine all sauce ingredients in small pot over low to medium heat; simmer until thickened 10-15 minutes; remove from heat

Heat Oil

* Fill pot or Dutch oven with oil, no more than half way and heat to 350F using thermometer; prepare paper towel lined platter or rack for draining. (Alternatively, use a deep fryer or air fryer. Prop/clip thermometer so bulb is submerged in oil.)

Fry and Coat Wings

* Season wings with salt and pepper; fry in batches avoid crowding pot until golden brown and cooked through 10-15 minutes; drain on prepared platter or rack.

* Toss fried wings in sauce (about 10 wings per 3/4 cup of sauce) using large bowl for even coating.

* Arrange on platter; garnish with blue cheese crumbles.
