Nothing beats that expression on your dog's face when you offer him or her a treat! Like many dog lovers, you've maybe spent a lot of time and money shopping for good-quality dog treats, so why not just make them at home?

Creating healthy treats from real ingredients is simpler than you can imagine.

HEALTHY PEANUT BUTTER DOG BISCUITS

INGREDIENTS:

2/12 cups of whole wheat flour

2/3 cup pumpkin puree

1/4 cup of natural, organic peanut butter

2 large eggs

DIRECTIONS

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees, and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Combine pumpkin puree, peanut butter and eggs well until creamy and well-mixed. Adding a little bit at a time, beat the whole wheat flour into the wet ingredients, adding just a 1/4 cup at a time until dough is firm and not sticky.

On a floured surface, knead the dough 3-4 times. Roll out the dough with a rolling pin to 1/4-inch thickness. Using cookie cutters (dog bone shaped cookie cutters are the best), cut out the shapes and place onto the prepared baking sheet.

Bake 20 to 25 minutes until the edges are golden brown.

Let the dog cookies cool completely before rewarding your pup with this healthy treat.
