As a successful real estate agent for 18 years, Lori Vaden West has helped countless families find their dream homes. Two years ago, Lori had the opportunity to turn her home design dreams into a reality for her own family.
Lori shared that, “when you work in real estate you see features you like, and it makes you want to incorporate those into your own home.” A lover of design, Lori would collect inspiration from the different properties she saw while working with clients.
After finding the perfect oversized greenbelt creek lot in a beautiful McKinney cu-de-sac, Lori had a vision of a Modern Hill Country house surrounded by nature. Pulling together her favorite designs with a goal to make it her forever home, Lori's modern home with a sophisticated country flair was built.
Driving up you are greeted with a sprawling single-story home. The front lawn is landscaped with raised planters, ornamental trees, and a fountain to welcome you to beautiful double metal and glass front doors. Entering the home, you are greeted with the perfect mix of sophisticated design and cozy comfort. She took her time with each detail making sure it was right, seeing the home as a work of art.
This home has a calming sense of peace about it. Each room flows together with a nod to creamy whites, taupes and blues with under tones of aegean and jade. Unique brushed brass light fixtures and hardware extend throughout the home. But this home is designed for everyday living with light-colored hardwood floors that allow the pets to have the run of the home. Every room is bright and airy with views of the lush treed landscape inviting you to pause and wonder. Lori’s favorite room is a large den on the east end of the home. It has a gabled wood ceiling and a stacked stone. hearth fireplace that gives the feel of a Colorado lodge. This room had many uses including a game table for puzzles, a desk for Lori’s husband, and two Italian arm chairs for them to start their day together over coffee while watching the sunrise.
No detail was left out in Lori's home and landscape design. From the unique mid-century modern linear tiled fireplace that is the focal point of the sprawling living room, to the "space-ship" play center they built in the media room for her future grandchildren, this home is truly something out of this world.
Years of touring clients' homes has given Lori the opportunity to see many amazing properties and gather ideas. Her dream home is now a reality, and she and her husband look forward to making memories in it for many years to come.
