If you’ve ever driven down Fort Worth Drive in Denton, you’ve likely noticed the familiar D&L Farm and Home storefront. It's a trusted stop for backyard farmers, pet lovers, and green-thumbed gardeners alike. For decades, D&L has been more than just a place to buy feed and supplies. It’s been a gathering spot where neighbors swap advice, families stop in for weekend traditions, and everyone is welcomed with a smile.

Part of what makes D&L Farm and Home so special is the family behind it. Owned and operated by Rex and Jennifer Sanders, D&L is truly a family affair. The couple runs the store alongside their children, creating a warm, down-to-earth environment where customers immediately feel at home.

“Being around two of our kiddos every day is one of the biggest blessings,” Jennifer shares with a smile. “For our employees, I hope they all feel like a part of our family.”

That family spirit is tangible the moment you step through the door. Longtime customers often know Rex, Jennifer, and the team by name, and new visitors quickly realize they aren’t just there to shop. They’re stepping into a community that cares.

One of D&L’s most unique offerings is their year-round chicken program. While many farm supply stores limit chick availability to springtime, D&L keeps their coops bustling with options throughout the year. Whether you’re starting your first backyard flock or adding new breeds to an established coop, you can count on D&L to have healthy chicks ready for you.

Because convenience matters, D&L offers delivery services on everything they sell. This includes feed, bedding, supplies, and even live animals. “We can usually make deliveries the same day,” says Jennifer. “We make it easy for busy customers to keep their animals and gardens well-supplied without missing a beat.”

For animal health needs, customers can rely on the mobile vet clinic every Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon, right there at the store. This weekly service provides quick and affordable veterinary care, reducing stress for both pets and their owners. “It gives pets the care they need without the hassle of a long trip,” says Jennifer. “We love being able to make that kind of service easy and accessible right here at the store.”

D&L isn’t just about feed and supplies. It’s about fun, too. Every November, the store hosts one of Denton’s most beloved traditions: the Annual Weenie Dog Races. This year’s event will be held on Nov. 8 and will once again feature a costume contest as pups race down the track in full holiday spirit. These events reflect D&L’s belief that a farm and home store can be a true hub of community life.

One of the most valuable things D&L offers isn’t something you can put in a shopping cart. It’s the knowledge of their staff. “All of our employees are a wealth of information,” Jennifer says. “We love the personal experience of teaching and helping people with their livestock, pets, and gardens.”

Whether you’re a first-time chicken keeper wondering what kind of coop to buy, a gardener battling Texas clay soil, or a pet owner seeking the best nutrition for your dog, D&L’s team is there to guide you every step of the way.
