Dressing Your Thanksgiving Table

Bringing back the tradition of a formal table set for your Thanksgiving dinner

A holiday tradition that is making its way back in style are decorative tablescapes. A simple time-honored tradition can enhance the holiday magic from Thanksgiving to Christmas. In planning to dress your table it's important to start with the basics, color.  From the place setting to the stemware and ultimately the decor must flow with complementing colors. Amber with Moody Blue Events suggests that you start with a basic neutral charger which adds a slight sense of sophistication to your place setting. Next comes the dinner plate which could be very plain or more design oriented like the one that Amber chose here. Cloth napkins add just a little texture to the overall place setting and can be more of a neutral color like chosen here it can add that splash of color. To personalize your setting, add a personalized place card.

Once the place settings have been finalized you can then move onto the table decor.  Here Amber chose a white crochet table runner. The table runner along with the napkins can add that little splash of color to tie in all the pieces. Then comes the centerpiece.  Here Amber chose a beautiful arrangement that the Flower Gypsies put together to compliment the place settings. Fresh flowers as well as dried flowers is a trend that is coming back giving the centerpiece more depth and texture over all. Finally the candles always add a sense of elegance to the over tablescape. Here Amber chose varying heights as well as candle holders which adds just enough height to over design.

1. Charger and dinner plate with complementing silverware.

2. Punch cup and small dessert cup. Thrift stores are great place to acquire more of the vintage stemware

3.  Fresh and dried flowers accent one other with color and texture. Commission a local flower shop to make the perfect arrangement or try it  yourself.

4. Personalized place cards done with calligraphy to add the finishing touches to your perfect place setting.

5. Candlesticks at varying heights add volume to the table.  Make it your tablescape eclectic by having different sized candle stick and holders.
