Boulder is buzzing with the recent release of the Hop-Boosted IPA from Upslope Brewing Company. The beer features a two-chambered, in-can widget with BevBoost technology that releases hop flavor and aroma when you crack it open—thus extending the beer’s shelf life from 120 to 180 days. BevBoost is a concept from Upslope founder Matt Cutter, who designed it in collaboration with Steve Savage (a Boulder innovator in his own right as founder of Eco-Products compostable goods) and Boulder Engineering Studio.

“Matt wanted to bring something cutting-edge to the beer space and beyond,” says Katie Hill, Upslope marketing director. “He thought, if Guinness can do it with a nitrogen widget, why can't someone figure out how to do it with hops? You haven’t had something this innovative since the mountains turning blue on your Coors can.”

The BevBoost technology is the first of its kind to ensure an IPA has long-lasting freshness. BevBoost is already generating global intrigue as Cutter and Savage plan to bring it to Munich, Germany this fall for the internationally renowned beverage trade fair, Drinktec. As for how it’s made, Upslope chose to stay local. Cutter and his team brought the innovation in-house, integrating the widget dropper into existing production lines.

As the Hop-Boosted IPA continues to create hype, Coloradans are also turning to Upslope for its beverage range that includes a lot more than beer. Prefer to sip a seltzer? Only reach for non-alcoholic options? Take a look at this lineup—there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

Favorites On Tap

Beer
Japanese Style Rice Lager
Loved for its crisp, toasty flavor, this brew has an extremely dry finish, so it pairs well with your meal of choice. The lager has 4.9% ABV and is available year-round—order it on tap or find it at your local grocer.

Craft Hard Seltzer
Spiked Snowmelt
Chances are, you’ve probably tried one of these refreshments, or at least seen them in a cooler at your neighbor’s summer barbecue. They come in addictive flavors, including tangerine and hops, pomegranate and acai, and peach lemonade. Each one is 5% ABV, has only 100 calories, and is gluten-free.

Craft Hard Tea
Hard Yerba Mate
Introduced last year, this homage to the traditional South American drink is a zesty lemon-flavored recipe made with pure leaf yerba mate. At 5% ABV, it’s also gluten-free with natural caffeine and fewer bubbles than beer.

Booze-Free
Non-Alcoholic Craft Light
If alcohol isn’t your thing, no problem. This is like Upslope’s flagship craft lager, but without the booze. Bright, smooth, easy, and delicious.
