Drink Your Greens!

Green Smoothies Pack a Nutritional Punch

Each year, I tell myself the same thing--I'm going eat heatlhier, starting with getting more veggies in my diet. Every year, that resolution fizzles fast. But maybe the problem isn't the veggies but the delivery system! When you have a green smoothie, all you need is a straw and one hand to pack in vitamins A, C, E, and iron. The folks at Dragonfly Tea Zone have a variety of smoothies to choose from but they were kind enough to tell us how to make the Turbo, a green smoothie, at home. Loaded with kale, spinach, and carrots, and topped with chia seeds for crunch and protein, this is an easy way to sneak in those veggies without breaking a sweat.

Turbo Smoothie

  • 1 leaf of kale
  • 1 hand full of raw spinach
  • 1 hand full of strawberries
  • 1 hand full of shredded carrot
  • 8 oz. of 100% Cranberry Juice
  • Chia Seeds

Blend all ingredients in a blender until smooth. Top with a sprinkling of chia seeds. Enjoy! Makes one 16 oz. smoothie.
