Aware Fitness Coaching

I had the pleasure of interviewing Meagan Ryan, Registered Dietitian, and Patrick Ryan, Fitness Coach with Aware Fitness Coaching. This power couple is changing the way fitness is viewed and done. Both Meagan and Patrick believe in providing the tools to help you to empower yourself and your fitness journey. By discovering the “Why” they can reach clients no matter where they are.

Why is New Mexico the best place for Fitness?

Patrick:

We get 310 days of sunlight every year, which allows everyone an opportunity to work out the way they want. Whether that is mountain biking to canoeing, our weather gives people access to outside forms of exercise while playing in mother nature’s playground.

Meagan:

You can explore other interests while getting your workout in. Most of our outdoor spaces are free! Whether you are entering the Sandia Mountains or going to a rural New Mexico town you can always find a free place to have an adventure and work out at the same time.

What got you interested in pursuing a business in online fitness coaching?

Patrick:

In 2013 I was working with clients an hour a week in person and would not see the kind of progress that was being promised. I was seeing a gap in where the true changes happen, which is not for that one hour but the 23 other hours in their day. The industry needs to evolve and so do the people in the industry. This comes from utilizing and tailoring the support through technology that people are trying to navigate their health while at home. The big box theory is if you sell people in the belief with working with a trainer your goals will be true, but the style is to create recurring customers instead of providing them the tools needed.

Meagan:

When going through my internship as a Dietician I learned that a lot of the practice is reactive instead of getting down to the core of what someone needs. People need a lot more attention initially to get them through the hump and to teach them the proper ways. I wanted to provide more of an impact in my client’s life instead of the regular conventional Dietician.

What is unique about Aware Fitness Coaching?

Patrick:

You have coaches that care and have a deeply invested route in your goals and staying consistent. Helping clients to solve their problems once and for all and getting off the roller-coaster. A healthy life is no longer synopsis with being out of reach.

Meagan:

We teach skills instead of doing it for you. We want our clients to understand the why and why it matters and create those skills, so you won’t need us with time. We do not want to create a cookie-cutter meal and workout plan so that you feel you cannot adjust.

By 2030 50% of the US population will be considered obese and we are not getting to the core of the problem, but instead putting a band-aid on it. If meal plans and big box fitness worked the industry would not be a multi-billion industry.

You can have guess work, hard work or framework. We focus on framework so you always have a reference for the entirety of your life.
