Hello, West Bloomfield and surrounding communities. We are a new advertiser with City Lifestyle, and we're so excited to be here and to be able to share information about Sapphire Springs. We have several more articles planned over the coming weeks, but let's start with the basic questions: What is floating? And, who is Sapphire Springs?

Floating, or float therapy, is more scientifically known as hydrotherapy, isolation therapy, or sensory deprivation. At Sapphire Springs, we have three float pods, each containing about 230 gallons of water and 1,000 pounds of Epsom salt (U.S.P. pharmaceutical grade magnesium sulfate MgSO4). Water depth is about 11 to 13 inches and temperature is maintained at 95 degrees Fahrenheit, the same temperature as your skin! While in the pod, you have the choice of closing the lid for the true isolation and sensory deprivation experience, or leaving it partially or fully opened. You can float in darkness or choose from our variety of lighting options. You can float in silence, choose from our selection of relaxing music, or plug in your own device and listen to your own tunes.

When you enter the float pod, the salt content is so high that your body will very naturally float on the surface. You don't need to know how to float or swim, and the water will never rise above your face, eyes, nose, or mouth. While floating, you will experience a sense of feeling entirely weightless.

This weightlessness is what brings about many of the physical benefits of floating. Your muscles will relax and your joints will loosen. Among other benefits, floating is an amazing natural therapy for arthritis, joint pain, sports injuries, and pregnancy aches and pains.

Floating also offers many benefits for your mental health. It can help to reduce stress and relieve anxiety and depression. It's been shown to enhance creativity, learning, and memory. It can help relieve the symptoms of ADD/ADHD and PTSD. It can also be used to intensify the benefits of meditation and lucid dreaming.

Sapphire Springs Hydrotherapy Center is locally owned and operated. We are not a corporate store or a franchisee.

Having experienced the inner stillness, bursts of insight, and relief from pain that floating can bring, we are passionate about making this practice available to everyone in metro Detroit. Our knowledge in this unique field has provided us with the tools to bring you to the next level in floating.
