There’s some exciting things happening to America’s best selling SUV — the Ford Explorer. The are three new choices to the line-up. New for 2021 is the lower priced Explorer Enthusiast ST, a better-value rear-wheel drive Explorer Platinum and, the Platinum, which takes Explorer’s three rows to new levels of luxury and efficiency.

The 2021 models will add more choice led by the Explorer Enthusiast ST, which boasts the same specially tuned 3.0-liter EcoBoost engine with 400 horsepower and 415 lb.-ft. of torque as the Explorer ST. It is the most powerful Explorer sold but at a lower starting price.

Demand for performance SUVs is growing. At Ford ST sales accounted for nearly 20 percent of Explorer sales. With an MSRP of $49,995, The Explorer Enthusiast ST has a top track speed of 143 mph, leather seats, a 12.3-inch digital cluster and heated sport-style steering wheel. For the daily drive, it features Co-Pilot360™ technology including Blind Spot Information System with Cross-Traffic Alert, Pedestrian Detection and forward collision warning.

Also new for 2021, the Explorer Platinum, the highest-spec version of the SUV, is available as a hybrid or as a lower-priced rear wheel drive SUV.

The Enthusiast ST is aimed at customers who want the fun and benefits of the Explorer, but without a hit to the wallet. It comes with a heated steering wheel and important technology such as Blind Spot Information System with Cross-Traffic Alert, Lane-Keeping System, Hill Start Assist, a rearview camera with built-in lens washer, auto headlamps with auto high-beams, Pre-Collision Assist with automatic emergency braking with Pedestrian Detection, forward collision warning, dynamic brake support and post-impact braking.

Joining the Enthusiast ST this year are new lower-priced rear-wheel-drive Platinum and Platinum Hybrids. Explorer Platinum includes special leather seats, plus leather-wrapped steering wheel, dashboard, door rollovers, and door and front console armrests. New also is a hybrid Explorer Platinum, which starts at $53,085.

The Explorer Enthusiast ST, rear-wheel-drive Platinum and Platinum are all available for ordering now and will be at Ford dealers this summer.
