In the vibrant heart of Orlando lies a gem of culinary and educational delight: the Edible Education Experience (EEE). Operating the Emeril Lagasse Foundation Kitchen House & Culinary Garden, this for-impact organization is dedicated to enriching the community through hands-on sensory encounters with food.
With a mission to build life skills and deepen connections with our food systems, EEE offers a range of innovative programs. They cater not just to educational institutions, but also to corporate teams and local residents, fostering a comprehensive appreciation for the culinary arts. By collaborating with renowned chefs, farmers, and artisans, EEE bridges the gap between food professionals and the community, creating a network of shared passion and expertise.
At the heart of their philosophy is the belief that seed-to-table experiences can shape and strengthen the community. These experiences are designed to spark curiosity, promote autonomy, and build life competencies through a deep connection with nature. EEE's programs also highlight food's role as a powerful artistic medium capable of transforming perspectives and fostering a collective sense of responsibility.
I personally got to experience a taste (pun intended!) of what their programming has to offer. Marisa Worley, Executive Director, invited me to a gardening class and then to have lunch, which is part of the education experience. We ate a plant-based meal that was "lick the plate" good!
Edible Education Experience stands as a testament to the power of community engagement around food and education, inviting everyone to be part of the journey from the garden to the table.
