El Dorado Gallery

Immerse yourself in art from local and international artists

In the world of art and culture, a special partnership exists, grounded in both a deep friendship and a mutual love for the arts. Andrés Gonzalez, Co-Owner and Curator of El Dorado Gallery, splits his time between Mexico City and Austin. Working closely with him is Susy Kim Horrigan, Co-Owner and Design Director, who calls Austin home, where she resides with her husband, their 5-year-old son, and two dogs.

This partnership initiated their venture into art curation with a clear and impactful vision—a vision to create a museum-like sanctuary right here in West Austin. “At our art gallery, our primary goal is to enrich Austin’s art community and inspire everyone who walks through our doors,” Andrés shares. “We believe that art is for everyone, and our mission is to create a space where everyone can come in and enjoy the beauty of fine art, regardless of whether they make a purchase.”

Andrés and Susy’s dedication to making art accessible to all has fostered an inclusive environment where even the youngest visitors feel at ease. “We’ve noticed a gap in the Austin art scene – there isn’t enough inviting space for people to explore art without feeling intimidated. This is particularly true for parents with little ones, who may hesitate to enter galleries. Even if it’s just for 5-10 minutes, we encourage them to bring their kids into the gallery and expose them the wonders of fine art and human expression,” Susy adds.

Among El Dorado Gallery’s many treasures, you’ll find an extensive international art collection, including Portal Pasten’s abstract art, Tere Casas’ mixed media pieces featuring real foliage gathered in Austin, J. Michelle Galek’s captivating blend of precision and randomness, and Jose Luis Torres’ large-scale abstract paintings—all sharing a common thread to provide viewers with a sense of tranquility, making their works an ideal choice for residential spaces.

Whether you’re a new collector, a connoisseur, or just an enthusiast, Andrés and Susy recommend taking time to visit art galleries. They believe, “Art is more than just aesthetics; it’s about the emotional resonance and connection one feels with a piece. Embracing the notion that ‘art finds you’ encourages a more organic and genuine approach to collecting.” El Dorado Gallery, open from 11am to 6pm, Tuesday through Sunday at 12901 Hill Country Blvd., Suite D1-115, Bee Cave, TX 78738, invites visitors to explore the transformative power of art.
