Elderberry syrup is known as a powerful cold preventative and remedy. Just one cup of berries contains about 58% of the recommended daily value of vitamin C. It's also a great source of antioxidants — which may protect your cells from damage and help prevent heart disease and cancer, making It the perfect natural addition to your medicine cabinet.
Ingredients -
- 3/4 Cup Elderberries (dried or fresh)
- 1 Tbsp Ginger, grated
- 1 Cinnamon Stick
- 4 Whole Cloves
- 3 Cups Filtered Water
- 1 Cup Local Raw Honey
Directions -
Stir all ingredients together, bring to a boil, cover and turn the heat to low and simmer for 45 minutes. Let the liquid reduce to about half, strain through a cheesecloth and squeeze to remove all excess liquid. Last but certainly not least, add the local honey and stir until combined. Pour into a glass jar with an airtight lid, syrup will store in your fridge for up to 2 months.
** Note - We like to use fresh ingredients but you can also use ground ginger, clove and cinnamon (amounts would be 1 tsp each for dried)
