Colorado Sports Chiropractic, a sanctuary for Olympic-quality chiropractic care, stands committed to a mission that transcends routine health services. Driven by the belief that optimal performance and well-being should be accessible to all—and that a doctor’s appointment should be time spent with a doctor—their approach targets and resolves the chief complaint and extends to assessing and treating the entire body. This ensures that every patient reaches their highest potential.

At the heart of Colorado Sports Chiropractic’s philosophy lies the Colorado Athletics Project, a beacon of hope for athletes who might otherwise lack resources for top-tier care. Dr. John Minen, both the clinic's and the project’s founder, articulates the core purpose, "It's easy to be on top or stay on top when you can afford the best care that money can buy, but those working their way there sometimes never get to the top because they don't have the resources. We want to make sure that doesn't happen."

The Colorado Athletics Project, operating as a non-profit, seeks to provide athletes with comprehensive support, covering care, coaching, gear and essential resources. Collaborating with like-minded providers, coaches, brands and facilities, the project aims to level the playing field. John envisions a future where a dedicated facility ensures athletes have access to training facilities year-round. “We would love to be able to help build a facility in the future to ensure that the athletes have access to a place to train. Currently, access to something as simple as a track can be difficult, especially when the winter rolls in,” John says.

John's journey into sports chiropractic emerged from personal experiences intertwined with a passion for health and fitness. As a top-tier athlete himself—competing in the 1500m at the 2011 US Track and Field Championships and qualifying in the 2012 US Olympic trials—John was no stranger to the hurdles that athletes face when pushing their bodies to the limit. A serendipitous encounter with effective chiropractic care for plantar fasciitis during high school ignited his interest. Subsequent exposures, including mentorship by legends in chiropractic, led him to provide world-class care in Boulder, a worldwide hub for endurance sports.

Colorado Sports Chiropractic offers an array of cutting-edge services, blending techniques like Active Release Techniques (ART) and Graston Technique to expedite recovery from injuries, reduce pain and optimize performance. The clinic's success stories are many, with instances of timely intervention rescuing athletes from missed injuries and enabling them to achieve remarkable feats, including Olympic medals. John shares a story of a young athlete who was originally misdiagnosed with Temporomandibular Joint Disorder (TMD) and found quick relief with direct treatment. “A 9-year-old gymnast came to me after being referred to our office by her dentist. She had intense ringing and stinging pain in her ear,” he describes. “We did our first round of treatment and got slight relief, but we were missing something. I went home and cracked open my Active Release books and…we treated a nerve that was entrapped by a muscle in her neck. The next day she said all her pain was gone. She wrote me the sweetest letter, which I have framed, telling me that I gave her her life back. It’s moments like those that make me feel as if I have the best job in the world.”

Besides the strong commitment to personalized treatment, what sets the clinic apart is John's extensive certifications and expertise coupled with a commitment to continual learning and collaboration. The clinic's personalized treatment plans, 100% hands-on approach and dedication to patient education underscore their patient-centered care. “The minute you walk into Colorado Sports Chiropractic you will know and feel that we are different,” says John. “I feel that our practice culture emits the feeling of professionalism with warmth. With the length of our sessions being much longer than the standard practice, and with 100% of the time being spent with the provider, our patients are also our friends and we truly care about them.”

Colorado Sports Chiropractic's ethos is not just about healing bodies; it's about nurturing dreams and enabling athletes to soar to their highest potential. Through the Colorado Athletics Project, they aim to create a landscape where every aspiring athlete has an equal shot at greatness.
