In their quest to make a meaningful impact in their community, two local doctors turn their passion and experience into action. Meet Drs. Gregory and Vanessa Sturz, a pediatric emergency room physician and Richmond Magazine 2024 “Top Doc” general dentist, who are the proud owners of the newly opened DRIPBaR Midlothian. With a shared commitment to service, Greg and Vanessa hope to share their story and help spread the many benefits of IV therapy to our community and beyond.

Following a rough month of 22 shifts at the Chippenham Emergency Room, Greg contracted strep throat, which eventually turned into strep pneumonia. About a month post-recovery, he developed a rash, which was diagnosed as an autoimmune condition: guttate psoriasis. After facing the exorbitant expense of medical treatments for Greg’s newfound condition, the couple began to research supportive treatments. That’s when they discovered the health and wellness benefits of IV vitamin therapy.

At Vanessa’s urging, an initially reluctant Greg agreed to try The DRIPBaR Charlottesville, and about 10 minutes after his first drip, he claimed it had been decades since he felt that good! This experience led him to integrate IV therapy into his ER schedule, making night-to-day conversions. By following an anti-inflammatory diet and an IV therapy regimen for a year, Greg has successfully discontinued his costly treatments and feels better than ever.

When discussing their mission, Vanessa shares, “We want to deliver IV vitamin therapy that embodies the highest standards of a clinic run by a physician, which is why we partnered with The DRIPBaR and REVIV10x,” she explains. Offering technology that no other clinic in town can provide - including genomic-based vitamin therapy, Vanessa states, “We believe in being of service to our community, and that’s why we have partnered with local charities and the Chesterfield Police, Fire, and EMS to support our frontline officers.” Additionally, DRIPBaR Midlothian collaborates with several neighborhood golf and country clubs to offer hydration services at significant events.

To provide this exceptional level of service, The DRIPBaR Midlothian has created a uniquely inviting atmosphere. Inside, the vibe is like no other; beautiful crystal chandeliers adorn the ceilings, and guests are provided with heated massage chairs and cozy Lola blankets. Greg and Vanessa ensure that all guests have a safe and comfortable experience, putting everyone at ease while educating them. They have created an environment where employees are always happy, which carries over to the overall atmosphere of The DRIPBaR. Greg and Vanessa maintain incredibly high clinical standards, so all their nurses actively practice in ERs and ICUs to ensure they stay up-to-date on their skill sets.

Since opening in mid-December, DRIPBaR Midlothian has received an overwhelming response from a diverse range of clients. “We may have had preconceived notions about who might be using our clinic,” Vanessa admits, “but during our first week open, we have been extremely surprised by how our community is so well educated and well-versed in these supportive therapies.” From cancer patients to couples on date nights, elderly women, busy moms, and athletes, The DRIPBaR welcomes everyone from all stages and phases of life.

In its first week, the clinic treated patients facing serious health challenges, including those with cancer who sought high-dose vitamin C therapy, known for its potential to extend survival time in certain cancer types. Additionally, patients suffering from autoimmune conditions found relief through supportive IV vitamin therapy, while a professional athlete benefited from glutathione IV therapy to aid her recovery ahead of the competition.

So, how does this busy couple balance family life with running a business together? By being best friends and teammates, Vanessa explains, “Greg and I believe in being hands-on with our parenting. We alternate our work days so that one of us is always home when the kids are off from school or sick.” With a sense of humor and genuine joy in spending time with their 10-year-old daughter Greta, 3-year-old son William, and two dogs, Clementine and Hopper, the Sturzes express that working for employers who are supportive of working families makes it easier to balance their personal and professional lives, illustrating that both career ambitions and family time can thrive.

As they look toward the future, Greg and Vanessa aim to connect with additional businesses and establish meaningful partnerships. They are also looking for local charities to collaborate with. When partnering with golf clubs, they enhance charity golf tournaments by providing services and donating 5% of their proceeds to the hosting charity. The Sturzes invite all to come by The DRIPBaR to check out their facilities. “We offer something for everyone to support and optimize our community's health and well-being,” Vanessa says.
