The Impact of Plano ISD Education Foundation

In the heart of Plano Independent School District, the Plano ISD Education Foundation stands as a beacon of support, fostering an environment where every student can achieve their full potential. Established as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, the Foundation's mission is clear: provide financial support to educators and academic programs, ensuring excellence for all.

Since its inception in 1993, the Foundation has generated over $23 million in private support, directing funds toward priority projects that tax dollars cannot cover. Their commitment to quality education in Plano ISD remains unwavering, evidenced by their collaboration with 40+ businesses and organizations in the North Texas region.

At the core of the Foundation's impact lies a dedicated Board of Directors comprised of business and community leaders. Their recognition of the vital role that excellent public schools play in the Plano community drives the Foundation's efforts to maintain Plano ISD's status as one of the nation's best public school districts.

The Foundation's initiatives, developed over 30 years of partnership with Plano ISD, address the diverse needs of students, teachers, families, and employees. Unique programs, made possible through individual and corporate donors, grants and sponsorships, enrich educational experience in ways that are not feasible through traditional funding channels.

This year, the Plano ISD Education Foundation will fund $150,000 in individual and team grants. Grants can be awarded for new technology, after-school programming, materials or student experiences. Each year grant winning educators are surprised in their classrooms by the grant patrol made up of partners, volunteers and district staff. “Everyone who has the privilege to participate in this event loves seeing our teachers’ exuberance and appreciation as we present them with these grants! These grants symbolize that we believe in them and in the work that they are doing for our Plano ISD students,” said Plano ISD Education Foundation Senior Executive Director, Brittnea Ussery.

A standout event in the Foundation's annual calendar is SKI Plano, slated for February 10 at the Renaissance Dallas at Plano Legacy West. Beyond being a night of fundraising and dancing, SKI Plano is a testament to the community's commitment to education. Funds raised during this event support critical initiatives, such as the Welcome & Enrollment Center, Grants to Educators, fifth-grade camp experiences, health science certifications, and robotics programs.

As the Foundation continues to evolve and meet the ever-changing needs of education, it invites the community to join the cause. SKI Plano 2024 is not just a celebration; it's an opportunity for individuals and corporations alike to contribute to the ongoing success story of Plano ISD and its students. Together, we can empower futures, one student at a time.
