Leadership at Magnolia School reflects years of experience, close relationships, and a deep understanding of how children learn. Founded by Meghan Tapp, M.Ed., BCBA, the school draws on more than 17 years of her work across public and private education, shaped by a belief that students thrive when learning feels both rigorous and personal.
That belief carries through the classroom experience from pre-K to middle school. Curriculum decisions are guided by research while remaining responsive to how children learn today. As the Magnolia team shares, “With every generation, we have to stay on top of best practices for education, as well as sifting through what works for the current generation of students.” Learning is designed to stay engaging and relevant, especially for students who “are craving a learning experience that is interactive and lights the innovative part of their brain.” Research-backed instruction gives teachers a strong foundation, while flexibility allows them to “shape the curriculum in a way that fuels their students,” rather than asking passions to be set aside.
Small class sizes make that flexibility possible. Teachers know their students well and adjust instruction as children grow, ensuring progress feels supported rather than pressured. “We’re proud to offer specialized instruction designed just for each student,” the team explains. Teachers actively track progress, meet learners where they are, and focus on identifying strengths. “We know our students, we believe in them, and we empower them to reach their personal best. Small classes. Big confidence. Even bigger growth.”
Creativity, play, and exploration are treated as part of everyday learning, not separate from academics. Clear routines provide consistency, while curiosity is encouraged to take the lead. “Creativity and critical thinking are key areas to foster in every learner, no matter how old they are,” the team notes. Structure offers a sense of security, and teachers remain willing to pause lessons to build on student interests. “Teachers cultivate curiosity as a daily practice,” protecting time for wonder and imagination. This balance helps students feel seen and valued, supporting resilience and a growth mindset that extends beyond the classroom.
Learning also continues outside the traditional school day. Enrichments, afterschool programs, and individualized tutoring give students additional ways to explore interests and strengthen skills. Summer camps run June 1–26 and July 6–24, blending academics with STEAM and performative experiences, including themes from entrepreneurship to screen acting. Academic outcomes reflect this balance, with Kindergarten students scoring above 90 percent of students nationwide and K–2 scores among the highest in the country.
Families interested in seeing Magnolia firsthand have opportunities throughout the year. “We offer tours daily at 9 AM to allow prospective parents to see our students and teachers in action,” along with a rising kindergarten round-up in February and an Open House in the spring.
Community remains central to Magnolia’s identity. “Building a strong, connected community is at the heart of Magnolia’s values,” the team shares, reflecting a commitment to helping children discover strengths, build confidence, and reach their full potential.
