“Welcome back, it’s great to see you,” is a phrase you’ll hear at Medina County District Library’s six locations. No more late fees, time-saving services and extras like passports and meeting rooms make your life richer, and it’s all offered at MCDL.

“Caregivers and children missed storytimes and events so much, and while we will continue to offer virtual options, storytime on the lawn or in the libraries is back! We are so happy to offer early literacy education in many fun ways”, says Gail Ebey, Children’s Dept. Supervisor. “We’ve even opened up our play areas so families can socialize and kids can play again.”

All the services patrons love (or maybe you never knew about) are back in full swing. For example, the locally-cherished MCDL Summer Reading Game, enjoyed by generations of families, had nearly 4,000 kids and teens play this summer.

Also available are meeting rooms. They are are popular among scout troops, book clubs or for personal celebrations, and must be reserved in advance.

Get ready for that big trip with passport processing at the Medina, Brunswick and Lodi Libraries. Just call for an appointment.

Are you too busy to make it to the library? Reserve items and pick them up in a book locker or through curbside pickup. Librarians will even be your personal shopper, just tell them what you’re after and they’ll get it ready.

Many people discovered the convenience of downloading and streaming over the past year. Download eBooks, eAudiobooks, music, movies and TV shows from library apps on your mobile device. MCDL is a fine free library, meaning items will automatically renew if there are no requests for them.

The Virginia Wheeler Martin Family History and Learning Center at the Medina Library offers genealogy research, a Digital Lab for converting old movies to digital files, Adobe Creative Suite for graphic design work, a Makerspace with a 3D printer, laser engraver, sewing and embroidery machines and a large format printer for making banners and stickers. The best part – you only pay for the raw materials.

“Our Genealogy Team has a combined 80 years of experience in the field. We love tracking down a genealogy mystery and are here to help with family or local history research”, says Lauren Kuntzman, Manager.

Jennifer Webb, a Medina resident, uses the Makerspace regularly for personal and work projects.

Just in time for school - Tools and Tech expands to all locations offering new items geared toward school from home, with Chromebooks to microphones and hotspots. Medina Library also offers a collection of items you may only need once or want to try out before you buy. From binoculars to telescopes, virtual reality headsets to radon detectors.
