Esh’s Grocery Market recently opened their newest store right here in Windsor. With lines rounding the building on opening day, it was easy to see that the grocery outlet is a welcome addition to the Windsor community.

Owner Reuben Esh recalls the excitement his mother felt providing ample groceries for her family of six after shopping at Reuben’s uncle’s budget grocery store, an hour and a half from home.

Following in his parents' entrepreneurial footsteps, Reuben let that excitement bloom into a business built on the premise of providing that same thrill for other families. Equally as important is creating a healthy and desirable work environment, one in which parents can feel confident sending their work-aged children. This type of commitment also shows up in Esh’s ability to address a national dilemma.

Food waste has reached levels of 100 billion pounds nationally to which Esh’s provides an effective solution. By bringing in damaged cases, over-stocked goods, products with old branding, and other items passed over by suppliers, Esh’s provides an outlet for these still high-quality products and is able to offer them at discounted prices. Backed by a generous return policy, the products offered at Esh’s ensure 100% satisfaction.

As part of their effort to reduce food waste, Esh’s partners with food banks when they receive product that exceeds their necessary inventory. In fact, Esh’s logged over 300,000 pounds of food bank donations last year.

Esh’s unique inventory is sourced from all over the United States including the Midwest, the East and West Coasts, and the Northwest, bringing excitement to shoppers who may spot a familiar brand from their home town or region they wouldn’t normally find here. Additionally, you’ll find a variety of natural and organic products on the shelves at Esh’s, giving them their signature tagline, “Gourmet groceries at budget-friendly prices.”

Grocery outlets are not a new concept, dating all the way back to 1946, but Esh’s is responsible for bringing that style of shopping to Colorado. Specific decisions were made during the construction of the Windsor location of Esh’s to keep it from looking like a “salvage store.” And with its clean, organized, and very well-maintained space, Esh’s effectively combines the look and feel of an upscale grocery market with the affordability of a grocery outlet.

Traverse Builders was instrumental in bringing the Esh’s vision to life. Reuben acclaims them for their clear communication regarding budgets, changes, and even the smallest of details. Brian Zwiep and Zach Beedle of Traverse Builders are grateful for the opportunity to build the Esh’s Grocery Market in Windsor. Brian shares that working with the Esh family on this project epitomized Traverse’s core values - forging genuine relationships.

Esh’s Grocery Market is truly a family affair, with many members involved in the day-to-day operations, including John Esh, now retired, Reuben’s father and founding member; Reuben and Martha Esh, founders and owners; their daughter Carolyn, HR & payroll; Bethany, deli; son-in-law and warehouse manager, Preston Yoder; Reuben’s brother Justin, operations manager; and sister-in-law Shyra, pricing specialist.

Esh’s is redefining grocery shopping by offering the same products found in standard grocery stores at lower prices. While you won’t find everything on your list, their model makes it easy to discover new items at a price point well below what you’d pay elsewhere.
