From walking paths and sport courts to green spaces and play places, our community is invested in parks and recreation. We’ve gathered the latest information on upgraded amenities in three local parks. This July, get out and explore West Chester and Liberty Township’s recreation areas.
The Square @ Union Centre
The Square reopened last month after community-driven renovations around the First Financial Bank clock tower. Home to The Takeover summer concert series, this refreshed area offers an upgraded stage, two lighted splash pads and enhanced seating including rocks, benches and swings. Healthy new species of trees and mounted sails offer additional shade.
Beckett Park
This 150-acre park is already a hot spot, hosting a boundless playground and the largest free splash pad in the state. In response to resident surveys, more fun is soon to come with a proposal to add eight pickleball courts and extended walking paths that will connect to existing trails. Watch for comfort amenities like additional shade and parking and upgraded bathroom facilities.
Fort Liberty Playland 2.0
The community celebrated the grand opening of the reimagined Fort Liberty Playland 2.0 in March. Modeled after the beloved original wooden structure that was built by volunteers in 1999, the new version was designed with resident feedback and the goal to improve safety and accessibility standards. The revitalized space honors the past and inspires the future.
