Collections Online
Founded by the Dickens Fellowship in 1925, the Charles Dickens Museum holds the world’s most comprehensive collection of material relating to the life and work of Charles Dickens. With over 100,000 items comprising furniture, personal effects, paintings, prints, photographs, letters, manuscripts, and rare editions, the collection is significant for its breadth and depth.
How to use Collections Online
Each object in our Collections Online database has a record, where you can find information including a description, pictures, production date, and information about the objects history.
You can:
- Search for object records using keywords
- Use the Advanced Search function to look for certain kinds of objects or material from a specific date
- Peruse our different Collections, including Objects, Archives and Manuscripts, and volumes from our Library
- Browse groups of objects in the Themes section, with topics ranging from ‘Interesting Dickens letters’ to ‘Dickensian memorabilia’.
