Picture this: You are relaxing in an infinity pool savoring the sun while surrounded by a vineyard resembling Napa Valley. Next you embrace a calming massage at an elegant spa, followed by exquisite cuisine at a first-class restaurant. Your day ends with an evening walk in the countryside to a romantic private bungalow.

Want to experience this vacation but think you must travel far away?  It’s actually only a short drive from Celina.  Escape from the ordinary and experience high-end luxury and comfort at High Hill Farm Resort and Spa located in the Piney Woods roughly two hours from Celina.

High Hill Farm is the dream turned reality for Jason and Sharon Romano. The Romanos loved to travel to places like Seaside, Florida, New Orleans, Napa Valley, Greece, and other European destinations. Each location had a memory, beautiful scenery, excellent food, plus exciting adventures. As Texans with busy lives, it was often hard to vacation so far away. The couple wanted a place that combined the best of their travels but also close to the Dallas area within a short driving distance. Since no place existed that met their criteria, they decided to build their own exclusive retreat.

The Romanos could literally see “the forest through the trees” when they discovered seventy-five acres of thick, dense land in the scenic Piney Woods near Tyler. They merged Jason’s expertise in building custom homes and Sharon’s gift for design and entertaining to develop the ultimate weekend getaway.  In fact, since 2014, the couple has transformed the area into a popular retreat complete with cozy bungalows, a working vineyard modeled after Napa Valley, and inspired cuisine that will entice any self-proclaimed foodie.

High Hill Farm has activities for everyone. In fact, it is the guests’ satisfaction that is of the highest importance here. Besides unwinding by the pool, visitors can also enjoy a soothing facial at the spa (with advance reservations). For the outdoorsy types, the resort has over seventy-five acres of hiking trails and nature walks. There is also Bocce ball, skeet shooting, and yoga opportunities. Finally, for some great shopping and sight-seeing, visitors can travel to Tyler, Texas within minutes of the farm.

And did we mention golf? The nine-hole golf course in nearby Overton allows for a quick game on superior grounds. The natural topography of East Texas with a scenic lake includes an affordable club house as well.

But no retreat is complete without culinary masterpieces. Each menu item is seasonal comprised of locally sourced ingredients with exceptional wine pairings and craft cocktails specific to the occasion. It is a full-service restaurant ready for your romantic dinner, brunch, or even breakfast in bed should you desire.

High Hill Farm is home to many types of events. The resort often hosts girl trips, small church groups, corporate retreats, family reunions, book club meetings, and even intimate weddings to name a few.

The accommodations include quaint bungalows constructed to remind you of a beach on the east coast with their own secluded courtyard.  For a larger group, the grand bungalow has four rooms with a screened-in porch and fire pit. And finally, "The Barn" is equipped with a one-bedroom suite, bunkroom, and two private rooms with queen beds making it an ultimate space for a mini family reunion.

On average, High Hill Farm has special events each month. Ranging from a Bourbon Cigar Dinner and Father’s Day Brunch in June, a wine dinner in the spring months, to the very popular Jazzfest, there is always a fun activity and occasion at High Hill Farm. The calendar of events as well as specials for weekend packages are publicized on the retreat’s many social media pages.

The Romanos have even more plans for High Hill Farm. Adjacent to the resort will be a new community of vacation homes called High Hill Development. The new development will include single and two-story homes plus condominiums. The project will feature bike paths, a chapel, and an amphitheater for live-music and special events.  Visitors and residents at High Hill Development will also have full admittance to High Hill Farm Resort and Spa.  In addition, the residences can be excellent investment properties, besides vacation homes, with rentals managed by High Hill Management.

The Romanos built High Hill Farm as their own version of the best vacations and experiences, attainable to people’s busy lives and schedules. The result is the whole package: a luxurious retreat designed how people want to vacation today in an enjoyable, quick drive from Celina.
