I will never forget the first time I was called altruistic, my son was 10 at the time, and I am not gonna lie...it caught me off guard. I was finishing my nursing degree, working full-time, and was a single mom of two. I am always thinking about what I can do for others, I struggled myself and know what it is like to go without. I have instilled in my children, that no matter how awful your life is, there is always someone who is suffering more.
