It’s 8th grade and I am sitting at the lunch table drinking a Slimfast and eating an apple because 8th grade day is on the horizon and I have to get in a bathing suit in front of all my friends.
This was the start of my dieting journey and little did I know it would take 15 years to end it.
I am going to guess you may be able to relate to me on this. I am 33 and grew up in the era of Weight Watchers, Jenny Craig, Nutrisystem, Slim Fast, Low Fat diets, Atkins, etc… everyone and their mom was talking about what diet they were on, how many calories they were trying to burn, and how they skipped breakfast and were proud of themself.
It was purely intoxicating! However, I do have to say that one good thing came out of this time of my life. My passion for walking women away from the crash diet mentality and teaching them how nutrition and metabolism actually work.
Growing up I was always a sports fanatic and extremely competitive. I played soccer, volleyball, basketball, ran marathons, and loved anything active! I quickly realized after training for my last marathon (while gaining 20lbs) that my metabolism was in the toilet. I was literally running 6-8 miles a day during the week and 15+ miles on the weekends and still gaining weight. I was mortified.
This is when I decided to take matters into my own hands and ask myself… Why is this happening?!
After studying a ton of books on metabolism, sports nutrition, and female physiology (plus pairing that with my schooling of dietetics)... I, for the first time realized… The “diet mindset” of “the less I eat, the more calories I burn” failed me.
In 2015 I finally walked away from crash dieting and started to nourish my body adequately. I focused on eating more, exercising less, lifting weights, putting less stress on my body, adequately hydrating, prioritizing rest… and my results were astounding.
In 2016 I knew I had a calling! I had to teach women the right way to go about changing their body composition, fueling their metabolism, and getting long lasting results. I wanted women to finally be able to walk away from yo-yo dieting (like I did) and never have to go on a diet again and this is when my private practice of Gray Nutrition was born!
Ever since 2016 I have worked with over 500+ clients and have taught them how to transform their meals, metabolism, and mindset using my Gray Method for long lasting results! I am thankful everyday that I get to be on this journey with such amazing people that deserve better than the crap diet companies continue to advocate.
