The Faces of Boulder Lifestyle

While the names of these businesses may be familiar, we wanted to give the people behind the logo's an opportunity to have a brief conversation with our readers. On some level, every business we partner with has been affected by COVID-19. Some have had to reinvent themselves, while others have had to cease operations completely.

The following businesses allow Boulder Lifestyle to exist, and we are so very grateful for their support.

AtpsLandscaping.com

We are convinced that we’ll all come out of this stronger than before, and we want to thank everyone for their continued support of our entire community during this trying time. While we’re all spending more time than ever in our homes and yards, we look forward to continuing to build beautiful, usable outdoor living spaces for your family to enjoy for years to come.   - Justin, Josh, Jason and the All Terrain Landscaping team

Big Red F Restaurant Group

Centro Latin Kitchen | Jax Fish House  | The Post | West End Tavern | Zolo Grill

BigRedF.com

WOW. An apocalyptic zombie invasion would be easier to deal with than this—at least there would be targets and prizes. Having been a part of this Boulder community almost my whole life, it’s so incredible to watch everyone come together to help each other out and support one another. We’re focused on feeding our staff and our community as best we can during this time, slinging hot chicken and cold beer at all the Post Brewing Co. and lots of love and comforting food and bourbon from West End Tavern. We’re open daily from 11:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. We can't begin to tell you how appreciative we are to have all the support of our communities in an effort to try and keep as many people working as possible. Let's all lead with love and we will get through this. - Dave Query

Together, we make a BOLDER difference!  - Brent & Jackie Friesth

Boulder Country Day School

BoulderCountryDay.org

Kersey Cares, Boulder Country Day School’s Community Service Program, is in full swing despite the school being on extended spring break and moving into a virtual learning environment. Students from all grades, preschool through 8th, made cards for the elderly and dropped them off or emailed them to the school. Cards were then sorted, divided and delivered to various nursing and residential homes around Boulder County.

“Service projects like Kersey Cares help us teach our students that their community is larger than their immediate family, neighborhood or our school. We aim to show students that they can have a significant impact on the lives of others, even at such a young age,” says John Suitor, BCD Head of School.

Cured

CuredBoulder.com

Despite the overwhelming uncertainty of late, the thing we have loved about this “pause” is seeing everyone, including ourselves, reconnect with their kitchen. With more meals than ever happening around the family dinner table, we’ve found our team, our guests and ourselves more connected to what we are cooking on a daily basis. The more you cook, the more inspired you are to learn about your food, to be proud of the choices you’re making and of who those choices support. Through food we can still virtually connect to a greater community, something more important now than ever.  - Will & Coral Frischkorn

Ecoscape Environmental Design

EcoscapeDesign.com

Our stonemasons and landscape maintenance team use protective facemasks regularly, so imagine our surprise when this item became such a hot commodity! For almost 20 years, Ecoscape Environmental Design has helped families make their outdoor space more beautiful and water wise. With COVID-19, we quickly realized how critical the simple things are, like food security in your own backyard. With a little ingenuity (& Zoom) our team is able to work on new landscape projects and keep a safe distance when working outside. We are even sewing our own facemasks for fellow crew members!

At Fanas Architecture, we feel grateful that we have the capability for our employees to work remotely. Projects are moving forward, and we are all looking forward to when we will be able to meet face to face again. No time like now to heal in body (do yoga, brush, floss and water pik). By the way—Charlie, our official greeter (photographed)—he’s exhausted from all the walks. He’d rather be boating in Minnesota!

Japango

BoulderJapango.com

These last many weeks have turned our lives upside down in so many ways, as it has for all members of our community. Each day presents new challenges, and hour-by-hour audibles adjusting how we navigate through each day. At the same time, it has instilled an unwavering commitment to our staff, to our community, our family (a baby girl due in three weeks) and friends to do whatever it takes to get back to normal and give back as much as we possibly can. We want to make our staff whole again and continue to be part of such meaningful programs, such as feeding our healthcare workers. All we can do is thank our staff, our family and the overwhelming support that we have received from the community. Thank you all, and please, everyone hang in there, we are here for you!  - Jon & Erin Banis

Rodwin Architecture + Radiance Power Yoga

RodwinArch.com

RadiancePowerYoga.com

Through modern technology, our business has become largely remote, even before COVID-19. We feel fortunate to continue the work for our clients, and our construction projects have continued to be built.

In late March, we (Radiance Power Yoga) suspended classes as was required. Yoga teachers aren’t in it for the money, but now they have zero income. I sent a “check-in” email to all my two dozen teachers in late March, asking if there was anything I could do to help them. In response, one teacher wrote back that they wanted to donate their last paycheck to any of our teachers who were experiencing financial crisis due to COVID. I was touched at her generosity and courage (as she has no idea if she will be financially secure through the pandemic herself) and offered to match her contribution. Over the next two days, a dozen more of our teachers (many of whom are living paycheck to paycheck themselves) asked to donate their paycheck as well. With the match we created a substantial emergency fund that I just distributed to a few teachers that are in desperate financial straits. If the community wants to help support yoga teachers, please subscribe to online classes at your favorite yoga studio. - Scott Rodwin

Sloan Construction

Sloan.build

The quote “Life begins at the end of your comfort zone” by Neale Donald Walsch seems fitting in these times as we are finding ways to adapt and stay connected with those around us, without physically being together. We are now called upon to develop creative ways to keep our businesses going, our families safe, and to see this as an opportunity to grow stronger together. This time has opened up more quality time with our kids: cooking, baking, and working in the garden together while home-schooling and running a business.

We are finding boundaries with working from home, which has required us to set up work spaces in every nook and cranny in our small ranch house and encouraged us to start happy hour at 4 p.m. each day!  - Dave & Hanna Sloan

Steve Remmert - Compass Real Estate

SteveRemmert.com

Times like these ask us to rethink how we define “home.” We are asked to look well beyond the walls that create it. Its meaning becomes more intangible yet abundantly more significant. I’ve noticed that our community, while in isolation, looks to each other for support, encouragement and care. There is an ironic unity found in our isolation.

In these uncertain times, we want everyone to know we are here for you. Please don't hesitate to reach out with any questions or requests. We are a resource for you and your family. Real Estate is a personal business that is harder in a world of social distancing but with technology and a bit of creativity, it can work quite well.

Two Sole Sisters

TwoSoleSisters.com

Laurel and Lindsey have really tried to keep the spirit of Two Sole Sisters alive and well during these stressful times. We love filling web orders and are offering free nationwide shipping and free doorstep delivery in Boulder County. Stay healthy and happy!

Zach Zeldner - Compass Real Estate

ZachZeldner.com

At Compass, our focus on technology-driven solutions allows me to continue to work with clients while still following the guidelines of distancing.

I am offering Zoom meetings for appointments or property analysis, and video walkthrough tours for showings. Historically, the Boulder real estate market has always been a safe haven during times of volatility. During the recession of 2008 and immediately after 2008, when most of the country experienced significant losses, the Boulder housing market was down only 1.5 percent at its very worst, and then bounced back quickly. While the markets fluctuate, and we all experience change in our daily lives, I am providing real time data to keep friends and clients informed of the market. Remember, Boulder was recently named the happiest city in the country, and the healthiest city in the country. Wishing you and your family health and safety!

Katie Manz - Sweep Balayage Bar

While we certainly didn't expect to be celebrating our one-year anniversary from home, our entire team remains grateful for our health, and many other blessings. I dearly miss the day to day interactions at Sweep, but am soaking up the days with our four kids - and trying to maintain sanity in the process. We are so thankful for all of our amazing clients who have purchased gift cards during this challenging period. Our community is resilient, and feel that although we have been physically separated, we are more connected than we've ever been. merci beaucoup!
