In April 2001, Daron Skero found himself at a life-altering crossroads. His lifestyle had taken a toll on his relationships, his future, and his faith. With his first child on the way, he knew he needed to make a change—not just for himself but for the life he was about to bring into the world. On a Saturday evening, burdened by his mistakes and searching for peace, Daron turned to the Lord. In a moment of vulnerability, he sought forgiveness and guidance, trusting God to help him start anew. What followed was a profound transformation: a life of peace, joy, and purpose, centered on honesty and integrity.
This spiritual renewal set the stage for what became Skero’s Furniture. In 2001, Daron purchased Kingwood Furniture and Consignment from his parents, renaming it Skero’s Furniture in 2002. Fueled by his faith and a desire to create a positive, safe space for his team and the community, Daron built a business where values come first. From the moment its doors opened, Skero’s Furniture became known for its warm hospitality, fair pricing, and commitment to helping customers create homes filled with comfort and love.
At the heart of Skero’s Furniture lies a simple yet profound principle: treat others the way you would want to be treated. Inspired by The Golden Rule from Matthew 7:12, Daron instilled this value into every aspect of the business. Whether working with manufacturers, serving customers, or mentoring employees, Skero’s Furniture operates with integrity and kindness, always striving to meet the highest standards. The business has grown to encompass three locations in Kingwood, Crosby, and Atascocita, each offering a wide selection of furniture from over 38 trusted manufacturers. By maintaining strong relationships with suppliers, Skero’s ensures that customers have access to quality furniture at every price point.
Beyond furniture, Skero’s commitment to the community shines through its Atascocita location, known as The Locker. This space serves a dual purpose: offering low-cost items—like showroom samples, vendor deals, and scratch-and-dent furniture—to families in need and hosting a co-ed Bible study every Tuesday morning. Open to all, The Locker is a testament to Daron’s mission to give back, spreading hope and support to those who need it most.
Throughout his journey, Daron has relied on his faith to navigate challenges. Whether it’s staying honest in tough business situations, encouraging his team to serve customers with care, or ensuring Skero’s operates with integrity, Daron lives by an “audience of one” philosophy, always seeking to honor the Lord. For customers and employees alike, Skero’s Furniture is more than a business—it’s a place where values matter, relationships are nurtured, and every decision reflects a commitment to faith and community.
"At Skero’s, we treat everyone like family, guided by faith and integrity."
