House of Mo Boutique is a little shop in Lakeside that is making a big statement when it comes to personal style. The shop’s message: “Be confident. Be beautiful. Be you.”
“This phrase started from the early days of our boutique,” says owner Monica Housewright. “I felt that women were repeatedly coming in the shop and saying they couldn’t wear this or that because they were too old or 10 pounds over their ideal weight. I would urge them to try a piece on, and then they would feel beautiful in their own skin. It’s magical when this happens, and it does quite often!”
House of Mo features women’s and men’s clothing for real people, Monica explains. “We get to know our clients, their styles and always offer helpful feedback to find their perfect style.”
The popular boutique, which carries lines from local and global artisans, originally began in historic downtown Grapevine and opened its second location in Flower Mound this past year. In addition to inspiring confidence and joy in her customers, Monica is dedicated to doing good in the community.
“We actually have partnered with Ally’s Wish here in Flower Mound,” Monica says. Ally’s Wish grants wishes to young terminally ill mothers. “We felt this organization was a perfect fit for us because it brings women together in support of each other.”
In the spirit of women supporting women, Monica offers some advice to readers this month on finding their perfect fall style.
Layer up.
“We live in Texas, and even though it’s fall, our weather doesn’t reflect it. Layers give you the opportunity to dress for any season that our Texas weather might throw at you.”
Grab some stylish sneakers.
“We love this because they are so comfortable, and the trend is that sneakers are acceptable with really any outfit. This gives you a playful and comfortable look that you will want to live in every day.”
Say yes to denim.
“Every girl needs the perfect jean jacket and pair of jeans in your wardrobe! Jean jackets can be added to just about every single look. As for the perfect pair of jeans, we are still loving the flare, but whatever you feel beautiful in, we say own it and love it!”
Be bold.
“Bold colors, statement embellishments and oversized accessories – don’t be afraid of this trend. You can add these pops of color or accessories to a single white t-shirt and jeans and your look will be on-point.”
Give it the (over-the-knee) boot.
“Ankle boots will always be an essential shoe style to own, but if you want to look particularly forward in fall 2022, get yourself a pair of over-the-knee boots.”

“A slip dress! These are probably the most versatile items. You can literally style a slip dress in so many ways."

“Every girl needs a LBD – little black dress. I encourage women to have several options – a long, a short and something fun and flirty, so that you have the perfect dress for any occasion.”
