Fall Fabulous

Styles this Season with Savvy Chic

Fall is always about denim and sweaters and this season is no exception.  Covid’s influence has just now enhanced a more comfortable style. People still want to look good and cute, but now you are dressing up sweatshirts and cozy sweaters instead of suits and dresses.  Every day has now become casual Friday.  Throwing a blazer on with a t-shirt or showing off the latest lounge-wear, you can still look professional and stylish.  Even if you are not going into an office, you can still make casual look cute.

Since socializing and entertaining is being held more outdoors, outer-wear is a necessity.  With patio dining becoming increasing in popularity, jackets and blazers will be a staple in everyones wardrobe.  It will no longer be an accessory but will become part of the ensemble and a statement piece.  It is just as simple as putting on the perfect blazer to polish up your outfit.  Throwing on a delicate camisole, graphic T or fitted turtleneck with your favorite jeans completes the look. During this time, there is really no wrong choice for denim.  From skinny to straight leg, boot cut or flair, anything goes.  Distressed, embellished, sequins, embroidery, fringed and prints, there really is no bad option.  High rise jeans still seems to be the favorite cut of jean.

The great white debate - can you wear white all year round?  The answer is yes, but it is more weather dependent than seasonal.  “If it is still 80 degrees on September 30th, rock your white jeans.” Says Lanna Young, Owner of Savvy Chic.  Faux Fur is always big.  Jackets, vests, and puffers are definitely becoming more fun. Cognac, rust, mustard and the brown color family are back. And of course you can always count on the classic blacks and grays.   Retro colors such as brighter pinks and blues are also being shown for the fall especially to add a pop of flair.  Star and lightning bolt motives are highlighted in many pieces this season.  Tie dye is everywhere and every body is doing it in so many different creative ways.  From muted to bright, you can’t go wrong with tie dye this fall.  You can still be very trendy and current without feeling like your back in the 80’s.

Bigger and more versatile hand bags are in. The neoprene bags with different prints are stylish, easy to maintain and fun.  Changeable guitar strap cross body bags are also the rage.  The smaller handbags such as clutches aren’t as necessary due to the lack of more formal events.  Even jewelry is more simple and delicate.  Layering of bracelets and necklaces is a easy way to jazz up your more casual look.  Mixing your finer jewelry, like your David Yurman, with a fun beaded or rainbow bracelet, is a great way to complete your look.

Since masks have become a part of our everyday wear, the brand Sanctuary has created a stylish and functional accessory.  The Company started during the pandemic making masks for health care workers and then brought it to the retail world to create a safe yet fashionable accoutrement.   For every sale, this gracious non-profit is able to fund more masks for donation.

Even though it is a simpler time in fashion, fashion is still important. Since we need more comfort in our lives right now, it only seems appropriate that fashion will follow.  Times are tough but we can still be savvy and chic!
