For many months, yoga pants and joggers were the dress code as many worked from home and attended zoom events. Now that the world is slowly opening up, and people are venturing out and about, it’s time to think about a spring wardrobe refresh.
“It’s time to get out of those pjs and workout clothes that we have been wearing 24/7. It’s been a long, tough year. It’s time to get back to normal and look your best,” says Megan Condrack, owner of Megan’s Lifestyle Boutique.
The key this season is to keep it comfortable, she says.
“Dresses, long or short, are a great transition option. Comfortable and easy, they can be worn with any type of shoes, as well,” she says. “Since we have been accustomed to the ‘comfort zone’ for so long, wide-leg pants or trousers allow for us to continue that same comfortable feeling while maintaining a professional look.”
Soft colors are on-trend for spring, Megan says. “Grays and yellows are top colors, but spring will also include all variations of pastels. Bold colors will be the best choice to help everyone transition into summer.”
For day-to-day, Megan suggests investing in some simple matching sets. “This can include tops and shorts or joggers and tees,” she says.
For those attending in-person events, Megan says, “An all-time favorite is a flowy, tiered dress, which always works – especially in the warm Texas summer weather.”
When traveling, Megan says, “It’s all about the fabric.” Tencel and Cupro are durable, while polyester/spandex mixes are easy-to-pack and remain wrinkle-free.
“Jumpsuits and maxi dresses are still strong selections for traveling,” she says. “Both are easy and quick for a single outfit. Either can be dressed up for the evening special events or simply tied back with sandals or sneakers for those casual day outings.”
Use accessories to add a pop of color this season. Megan suggests brightly colored bags – yellow and cobalt blue are on-trend. She says belts also can make a statement.
“An outfit can be simply monochromatic, and add the belt for a pop of wow!” she says.
When it comes to shoes, Megan says, “sneakers continue to be very popular. The trend is retro styles and colors.” Flats and sandals also are popular choices. The trend is cushiony sandals, flip flops with wide straps and dress shoes with smaller heels, she says.
To top it off, add a pair of statement sunglasses. “The bolder the better,” Megan says.
The most important fashion rule to remember is to have fun with your wardrobe, she says. “Think happy! Dress for you. Comfort is a part of our lives now, but you can still have style and be comfortable.”
