Adopting an animal is always worth the hair you collect on your wardrobe.  Boise State graduate Maddie Corey has been a cat lover since she bonded with her first pair of cats, Star and Moon, at three years old.  Throughout her life, she has owned seven cats, but wants to put her passion for these critters to a more helpful cause.

Corey became a part of Simply Cats in late March. The organization is a cageless, no-kill facility that houses cats for anyone to adopt. Corey saw an increase in adoptions through their adapted online format with Zoom meetings and social media audience. Corey uses her Marketing major as the Outreach and Fundraising Coordinator to plan donation drives and fundraising events for the facility. She is also the point-of-contact for outside donations. The money goes towards giving incoming cats a vet check up, vaccinations, microchips, and more, so the adoption is as easy as possible.  "My goal [for this position] is to increase the adoption turnover for the more difficult adoptable cats, like the older kitties and the ones with medical needs.  Kittens are more popular to adopt, but the others deserve a chance as well," Corey says.

Every animal deserves to be family. More information on volunteering and adoptions can be found on their SimplyCats.org website and social media pages.

Xena (F): This young momma is 9 months old and was found around a construction site.  She doesn’t get along with other cats but is outgoing and just wants cuddles.

Franny (F):  This sassy lady was given up after her family started moving too much.  She is very vocal and can be a little temperamental but is a sucker for play too.

Homer (M): Mr. Handsome Homer is a 6-year-old Tuxedo who was given up because of dogs.  He is curious, sweet, and loves to be brushed.  He would need to stay on a special diet to control his lovable curves.
