In a world that often demands women “bounce back,” push harder, and keep up, Coach Karli offers something radically different: a place to begin.
Not at the peak—but at basecamp.
For Karli, founder and head coach of Iron Diamond Fitness, the journey into fitness was shaped by pivots, setbacks, and an instinct to adapt. These are all qualities that now define the way she trains the women who walk through her doors.
“I’ve always been a competitive athlete,” she explains. “That was the foundation of everything.” After playing two sports in college and preparing for a career in business, her path shifted when the 2008 market crash hit just as she was entering the workforce. At the same time, injuries from years of athletics forced her to slow down.
Instead of seeing limitation, she saw opportunity.
“I thought, why not learn how to rehab myself?” she says. What began as a reset became a calling. Within months, she was working as a personal trainer—and unexpectedly loving it.
From there, Karli did what she would later ask her clients to do: take a leap into the unknown.
At 23, she packed up a U-Haul and moved to Miami without ever having been there. She worked in gyms from Equinox to boutique studios, quickly noticing a gap between what clients paid and what trainers earned. With her business background, she began building something of her own.
But the real turning point wasn’t financial—it was personal.
“I started training high-level athletes—Marines, football players—but it didn’t feel like my space,” she says. “I wasn’t serving them in the way I wanted to.”
Instead, she noticed something organic: more women began showing up. Those women got married, then pregnant, then postpartum.
“And I just fell in love with it,” she says.
What began as a shift became her specialty: training women through the most physical and emotional stages of their lives.
A Different Kind of Strength
Today, Karli works primarily with women in their 30s to 70s—from prenatal clients to mothers years postpartum to women navigating menopause. While their stages differ, their needs are deeply connected.
“It’s all connected,” Karli explains. “Hormonal balance, core stability, rebuilding from the ground up—it’s the same foundation.”
That foundation is where every session begins.
Workouts don’t start with intensity, but with a 15–20 minute dynamic warm-up—something many clients initially underestimate.
“They think it’s a waste of time,” she says with a laugh. “But it’s actually the most important part. It’s where we realign everything—physically and mentally.”
From there, sessions move into functional, compound movements that integrate strength, balance, and core work.
“You’re not just doing a bicep curl,” she says. “You’re stabilizing, engaging your core, working your whole body.”
Most sessions last about 45 minutes—designed to fit into real life, not disrupt it.
“I don’t believe in taking up someone’s entire day,” she says. “We can get meaningful work done without overwhelming your schedule.”
Where Fitness Meets Real Life
After years of training in Miami and New York, the pandemic forced Karli to rethink her business. Virtual training didn’t align with her approach, so she pivoted again.
Now she trains clients in her home gym or travels to them, creating a more personal, flexible experience.
But what truly defines her work isn’t logistics—it’s environment.
Clients bring their children, and sessions often happen alongside playtime.
“It’s organized chaos,” she says. “But it works.”
In traditional gym spaces, women often feel pressure to perform. In Karli’s environment, the expectation shifts.
“You don’t have to be perfect,” she says. “You just have to show up.”
For many clients, that alone removes the biggest barrier: fear of judgment.
“There’s this idea that you have to get fit before you start,” she says. “That’s just not true. All I need is doctor clearance. We’ll build from there.”
Still Intense—But Intentionally Focused
Karli is known for her holistic, women-centered approach, but her background in high-intensity training still plays a role.
She continues to work with clients seeking more advanced conditioning, including runners and performance-driven athletes. Boot camps and endurance work remain part of her skill set.
But they are no longer the center.
“I have that side,” she explains, “but it exists separately. If a client wants it, it’s there—but it’s not the focus.”
Instead, her priority is meeting women where they are, not pushing them into unsustainable environments.
The Impact of Motherhood
Years of training prenatal and postpartum clients gave Karli insight—but becoming a mother herself changed everything.
“I thought I understood it before,” she admits. “But experiencing it firsthand—it’s completely different.”
Motherhood deepened her empathy for the physical and emotional demands women face daily.
“Even finding time for a workout can feel impossible,” she says. “And I get that now.”
That understanding informs everything—from programming to communication.
More Than Results
Unlike many in the fitness industry, Karli doesn’t lead with transformation photos or weight-loss goals.
“Of course you’ll see results,” she says. “That’s why you’re here.”
But her focus goes deeper: creating a space where women feel safe, supported, and capable.
“It’s not just physical,” she explains. “It’s mental. It’s emotional. It’s confidence from the ground up.”
That philosophy brings her back to basecamp.
Whether a client is entering motherhood, recovering from it, or navigating a new life stage, Karli sees her role as the anchor point.
“Even if someone thinks they’re already fit,” she says, “we’re still going back to basecamp. We’re rebuilding in a better, stronger way.”
The Journey Ahead
For Karli, success isn’t measured in weight lifted or calories burned. It’s measured in how clients feel when they leave.
“I want them to feel strong,” she says. “Not just physically—but in every sense.”
And for the women stepping into her world—often uncertain or overwhelmed—that feeling is what keeps them coming back.
Because at basecamp, there’s no expectation to already have it figured out.
Just the promise that you will.
