In Argyle, there’s a fourth generation “Dentonite” making a difference every day. After starting his career at police departments in Dallas and Keene, Chief Emmitt R. Jackson had the chance to return home in 2020. As the Police Chief for Argyle, Chief Jackson has had the opportunity to help many people in the community. But like many first responders, he doesn’t stop helping when he clocks out.
Chief Jackson currently serves on several boards in his community, helping organizations like the Children's Advocacy Center for North Texas, Denton County Friends of the Family, and Champions Rotary. With each of these organizations, Chief Jackson works to bring his expertise and leadership to support the most vulnerable members of our community.
In the words of local resident Penelope Smith, “Even though Chief Jackson is busy with various leadership roles, he makes sure he is there for his children and encourages them in their school and sport endeavors.” Chief Jackson often spends his free time with his children and their grandparents, who all live nearby.
But while Chief Jackson works hard all throughout the year, he especially steps up at the winter holidays. Since joining the Argyle department, Chief Jackson has led the department in “adopting” children who have been placed in kinship care through a partnership with Our Community Our Kids. These children are unable to spend the holidays in their unsafe homes, and another family member, such as grandparents or aunts and uncles, step up to provide them a safe place. Even though these children are with families, often their caregivers do not have the financial means to get these children Christmas gifts. The Argyle Police Department puts together a Wish List of items so that all of the children and their families can get a special gift to celebrate the season. Through this event, the Argyle Police Department is able to help bring extra light to challenging times. Thank you, Chief Jackson, for all that you do for our community.
