Moms today face a common challenge balancing work, family and personal time. Making time for exercise can seem like the biggest challenge of all and often falls through the cracks, yet it is one of the most important things we can do to improve mood, increase energy, build a positive self-image and help avoid future health problems.

After moving to Boise, Summer Walters was looking for a way to get out, connect with other moms and exercise without having to leave her kids at the gym.

“Many new moms have a hard time getting out of the house and battle isolation and postpartum depression. Coupled with sleep deprivation, things can get rough. Exercise can combat all those challenges, and classes provide community and connection.”

—Summer

She started attending Stroller Strides and fell in love with the FIT4MOM program. When the previous owner decided to sell the business, Summer was eager to step in and continue the wonderful programs that been such a benefit to her.

Stroller Strides meets at 9:30 a.m. most Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at Kleiner Park. The first class is free to enroll, and for more information on other classes and locations including Boise and Hidden Springs, visit Boise.Fit4Mom.com

1. Involving your kids in your workout keeps them entertained and shows them a good example of active living. Remember to bring a few snacks and water to keep them happy during class.

2. Moving your body and being out in nature gets your endorphins flowing and gives a feeling of well-being.

3. Make a connection. Working out together benefits everyone and makes a huge difference in your motivation. All moms, grandmas and caregivers are welcome.

4. Use the environment—whether that’s a curb, grass, benches or strollers. You don’t have to have a jogging stroller to participate in a Stroller Strides class. Any stroller will do.
