Core & Kulture Pilates is the culmination of a vision by husband and wife team William M. and Mimi Rosheall to take fitness in the CSRA to the next level. “I’ve worked at gyms and done personal training, and the one thing that was missing was a true community and culture vibe,” says Mimi. “We are focused on genuine results while celebrating everybody who comes into the studio. People tell us that it doesn't feel intimidating and that it feels like home, and we’re really proud of that.”

In addition to being a certified Pilates instructor, Mimi brings over ten years of experience in the fitness industry to Core & Kulture Pilates. As one of the first Pilates instructors in the CSRA, Mimi has also helped cultivate the practice of Pilates in the area and trained many mentees including her husband, William.

Through the process of learning and instructing, both Mimi and William developed a passion for Pilates and its many benefits. “The thing that really drives me is watching people get stronger, healthier, and living a better quality of life,” says William. “I love seeing the mental, spiritual, and physical transformation in people because Pilates ties in all those things.”

“I love watching people heal,” adds Mimi. “Seeing someone walk in guarded and in pain, then watching them become more and more pain-free is very fulfilling for me. I especially like seeing people learn how to manage their body and discover things about themselves – like how to move and control their body and grow in their own confidence. That never gets old for me.”

Mimi has training in both classical and contemporary Pilates techniques and all the instructors at Core & Kulture Pilates are working on being dually certified. Having comprehensive training allows instructors to use whatever techniques are most appropriate for each client.

“It's important to us that we pay attention to the biomechanics of the body and dual training really gives us a well-rounded understanding of the body and the method itself,” explains Mimi. “With contemporary, you have a lot more modifications and a lot of freestyling within the movement, so there are some foundational things taught but not all of it. Classical follows more of the Joseph Pilates order method. He had a certain order of how he taught the movements - so mat is all in a certain order and reformers all done in a certain order - and he puts a lot of emphasis on breathing.”

Instructors also strive to help clients understand how Pilates is both beneficial and essential. “We teach the why behind what the body is doing. A lot of people see Pilates while scrolling and they think it’s just a trend or a nice add-on to your routine,” says William. “We want to help people understand that Pilates is foundational. It's the kind of movement that makes everything else in your life better, from posture to pain management to confidence. Whether your goal is to get stronger or prepare for a specific event or race, Pilates has something for everybody.”

Core & Kulture Pilates offers group and individual classes. Most group classes, which are limited to eight participants at a time, are designed to accommodate beginner and intermediate levels of Pilates. The smaller group size also allows instructors to get to know each client and their needs. “Our instructors are so in tune with the people in front of them and they are trained and mentored to serve those they are working with at the most appropriate level,” shares Mimi. “Which is why we keep groups small… to make sure everyone is challenged properly but also making modifications where needed.”

Classes range from thirty-minute express workouts to full fifty-minute sessions. Group classes provide a great way to experience Pilates in a fun and energetic environment. However, for those who want more personalized attention and one-on-one instruction, Core & Kulture Pilates offers private individual sessions as well as duet sessions for two people, which are perfect for friends or couples who want to train together.

Doing Pilates together offers a unique and memorable way to have a shared experience that is great for the mind and body. The studio also hosts special ninety-minute private events such as birthday parties, bachelorette/bridal parties, and corporate team events. Each event is customized with the style of class and preferred musical playlist to create an atmosphere where everyone leaves feeling better than when they arrived.
