Clean eating isn’t just a trend; it’s the key to a healthier, more energized life. What one eats fuels body and mind, and processed foods work against consumers. As a former chronic dieter, my life has changed dramatically since eating clean. I’ve lost nearly 100 pounds without restricting, and now teach clients how to do the same.
Why Go Clean?
-
Nutritional Void: Packaged foods lack nutrients, leaving bodies undernourished and craving more.
-
Harmful Additives: Chemicals in processed foods cause inflammation, weight gain and long-term damage.
-
Addiction by Design: Sugar, fat and salt in processed foods are engineered to keep people hooked. Yikes!
Five Steps to Start Eating Clean:
-
Go Nutrient-Dense: Prioritize whole, colorful foods full of vitamins and minerals. If it looks like meat or a vegetable, it’s probably good for you!
-
Strive for Five: Fewer, recognizable ingredients are better.
-
Avoid Overly Processed Foods: If it can't be made at home (cheesy-poofs), skip it.
-
Experiment: Try eliminating sugar, gluten, or dairy to see how you feel.
-
Strive for 80/20: Give yourself grace. Be clean 80% of the time and flexible for the rest.
Clean eating isn’t about perfection; it’s about balance. Fuel your body with real, nourishing foods; you’ll feel better, crave less and reclaim your health. Nutrition is the baseline for health; make 2025 the year you go clean! And, if you’re like me, you’ve probably tried every “diet” out there, so why not try a new lifestyle instead?
