Football, Food & Family

The perfect afternoon

Three bedrocks of the American holiday season. Family brings us together, food keeps us together, and football (though sometimes it draws us apart) gives us something to celebrate.

The perfect holiday outing combines all three. It serves warm, seasonal flavors plated to perfection, accommodates extended families in grandiose dining spaces and has a perfect view of the game from any vantage point. It's East Cobb's neighborhood sports tavern, Westfield Tavern.

In April 2023, the owners of Buckhead's Whitehall Tavern and Smyrna's Creatwood Tavern brought their family-friendly restaurant concept to the East Cobb community, where they fit right in. Since then, Westfield Tavern has invited locals to come as they are and promises to leave them with full stomachs, happy hearts and lots of game time. With family, food and sports at the core of what they do, Westfield Tavern leans into creating a well-rounded experience for guests.

"Being accepted as a member of the community and ensuring Westfield Tavern is synonymous with Food, Family, & Sports is our ultimate goal," says Steve Shamatta, co-owner of Westfield Tavern.

Family

The restaurant has made it a mission to design a family-friendly environment that allows parents to enjoy the pleasures of dining out without the stress of kids being kids. Understanding that parents are limited on places to take the kids for dinner, Westfield Tavern offers a full game room to not only entertain kids but also give them a safe and engaging outlet away from their parents.

With ample seating inside the cozy dining room and a covered outdoor patio, there are plenty of spots to take refuge from the cold and warm up over a round of cocktails and good conversation shared among friends and family. Whether you plan an intimate gathering or holiday party in their event space, stop by for a tavern-hosted event or just pop in to catch a game at the bar, the space can accommodate all group sizes and celebrations.

Food

"We pride ourselves in making almost everything from scratch," says Steve. "While we know this is more labor intensive and expensive for us, we want to provide our guests with the best dining experience possible."

The culinary lineup at Westfield Tavern includes traditional American fare like burgers, wings and appetizers, with some selective standouts like their Buffalo Shrimp, which comes breaded and tossed in a delicious buffalo sauce or the Crab Deviled Eggs, an unusual yet irresistible flavor combination.

When asked what Westfield Tavern menu items first-timers can't miss, Steve had a few recommendations.

"For something a bit more filling, any one of our burgers (I especially love The Fire Burger) or Tacos will sit perfectly." However, he mentions two of their most popular items are the Asian Ginger Salmon and Cajun Pasta entrees. "Both are very unique and exploding with flavor," says Steve. "For dessert, our homemade Bread Pudding is sure to put a smile on your face."

Football

As sports lovers themselves, the team behind Westfield Tavern stays involved in the local sports community. They host high school spirit nights and sponsor local teams to give back to the community and show support for the future NFL stars right here in East Cobb.

Though the holidays are football season, the tavern will cater to the sports fanatic in your family all year long. With plenty of screens for sports viewing, the hospitable staff are more than happy to change the channel to any game you choose. Then, cheer on your home team from the best seats in the house!
