The Albers Group and Liberty Air

The McKinney & Prosper area, as well as all of Collin and surrounding counties, are very fortunate to have landed, pun intended, an outstanding individual, John Albers, who has created a Defense and Aeronautics company that also has a division, Liberty Air, now offering mulitple-stop chartered jet flights in and out of the McKinney Airport.

Born in Guam, a self-proclaimed military brat, John joined the US Marines and was commissioned two days after Saddam Hussein invaded Kuwait. Among his accomplishments as a Marine, John was a test pilot for the “J” model jets, was the first Marine to command the VX-20, which is the Air Test and Evaluation Squadron Twenty, a United States Navy air test and evaluation squadron based at Naval Air Station Patuxent River, Maryland, and served in Iraq in 2007.

The Albers Group (TAG) was founded by John as a one-man operation in 2013 as a diversified Defense and Aerospace company. He operated in that manner for three years. He eventually settled in Texas and attended Texas A & M and received his degree in Industrial Engineering. Despite being told by a consultant that John wouldn’t succeed, John grew the company to as many as 72 employees.

One of the reasons for the success of the company is the diversity of services offered to support their clients, including:

  • AEROSPACE SERVICES: Includes both manned and unmanned services. Liberty Air offers a Part 135 certified service that allows multiple stops in a day, on your own schedule, and in a spacious and comfortable Learjet 60. This business segment also offers aircraft management services as well as well as aircraft sales and acquisition.
  • TECHNICAL SERVICES: Taking both simple and complex projects, TAG gets your program all the way up to “Government Ready”. TAG works with both our military and NASA in support of their efforts to maximize efficiency and meet goals.
  • LEAN IMPLEMENTATION: With over 36 years of experience, one of the things John is most proud of is his team’s great leadership. The team can help any company make their production processes more efficient and leaner.
  • INNOVATIVE TECHNOLOGIES: TAG also offers an Innovative Incubation program to help you get your concept into either the commercial or government markets. It’s family of Companies holds an exclusive unlimited license from the U.S. Navy on two Navy-owned patents built around Ultra-Short Pulse Laser methodologies.
  • TALENT MANAGEMENT: TAG is committed to helping veterans find their purpose in private life. TAG is also involved in a protégé program, the DOD Skill Bridge Program, in which he mentors servicemen and women in their transition from the military to private industry. This program was enhanced even more as the company was awarded a Mentor-Protégé Agreement with Vertex Aerospace LLC through the Department of Defense (DoD) Mentor-Protégé Program (MPP) in Feb of this year. This “SkillBridge” is utilized heavily within TAG as the pilot Liberty Air’s LearJet 60 is LCDR Patrick Imhoff, a former Navy pilot.

John lives in the McKinney area with his wife of 30 years, Alisa. They have 4 kids, including a girl and three guys, who apparently all have a love of hockey. Also included in the family is Oliver, their dog.
