The mission of The Drake House is to provide a lifeline of supportive housing and enrichment programs for single mothers and their children who are experiencing homelessness in the North Fulton area. Our vision is to be an integral part of our community, to facilitate financial security and ultimately, housing stability. We provide fully furnished private apartments to each family, a food pantry, laundry services, and other basic necessities free of cost while moms work with their family service managers to develop personalized empowerment plans to reduce debt, achieve a living wage, and attain market rate housing.

The Drake House provides support for families through wraparound services such as a dedicated career coach, weekly life skills workshops, mentoring support, financial success coaches, and a redesigned youth enrichment program that will provide a two-generation approach to poverty and homelessness.

4 Ways to Help Today

1. Participate in fundraising events for The Drake House

  • Sponsor, attend, and/or volunteer at The 17th Annual Miss Mary’s Ice Cream Crankin’, August 28 at Roswell First Baptist Church from 2 to 4 p.m. Consider becoming a “cranker” to provide homemade ice cream for our guests to enjoy! It’s a great team-building event for your colleagues, friends, or groups!

2. Shop, donate, and volunteer at The Drake Closet stores

The Drake Closet is a resale boutique for new and gently used women’s clothing, shoes and accessories with three locations: Roswell, Alpharetta, and Sandy Springs. Make a tax-deductible donation of women’s clothing of all types and sizes, shoes and/or accessories or volunteer your retail or organizing skills in Roswell, 408 Atlanta Street, Suite 157.

3. Give monetary donations or gift cards

Consider showing your support for The Drake House with your donation of retail gift cards of $25 or more. The Drake House uses gift cards throughout the year to provide our families with fresh produce, meat, food essentials, as well as to make repairs to our 32 apartments. Our current needs include gift cards to Kroger, Home Depot, Uber or Lyft.

4. Career services for PWCN

Need help? The Professional Women’s Career Network (PWCN) facilitates upward career mobility for program graduates. The mission of the PWCN is to promote the economic independence of employed single moms seeking to expand their career, job, business venture, personal networks, resources, and tools that support their desire to thrive in work and life. If you are a hiring manager with open positions that offer a living wage, please contact Shirlene at pwcn@thedrakehouse.org.
