When it comes to off-road innovation, Texas Tough Customs (TTC) stands out for its originality, durability, and hands-on craftsmanship. Based in Splendora, Texas, TTC specializes in custom suspension systems and off-road accessories designed specifically for Honda Talon and Honda Pioneer 1000 vehicles. TTC parts aren’t just built to impress—they’re made to perform on the toughest terrain, trusted by passionate riders across the country. The company is known not only for transforming machines into off-road powerhouses but also for its unmatched customer service, grassroots beginnings, and loyal community.
At the heart of TTC is Jared Doster, a man whose journey to fabrication mastery is anything but traditional. From a young age, Jared was drawn to off-roading and anything on wheels. In high school, he began designing custom speaker boxes for classmates, unknowingly planting the seeds for a future in design and fabrication. After earning degrees in both Dance and Industrial Design from Sam Houston State University, he toured internationally for five years with the renowned Pilobolus Dance Theatre before becoming a university professor. But between rehearsals and classes, Jared always found himself back in the garage—welding, building, and creating. Jared’s path might seem unexpected, but his ability to think in motion, understand structure, and push limits made his dreams become reality with high-performance off-road engineering.
His creative energy didn’t stop on the stage. In between tours and teaching, Jared taught himself to weld, built a hot rod from scratch, and eventually purchased a Honda Pioneer 1000. At the time, there were no aftermarket suspension kits available, so he built his own. That one design sparked unexpected interest from off-road enthusiasts and laid the foundation for what would become Texas Tough Customs.
Today, TTC operates out of a 5,600-square-foot shop in Splendora with a full team and state-of-the-art equipment. They build and ship custom parts nationwide, including suspension kits that dramatically improve ride quality and allow for larger tires, along with bumpers, rock sliders, and custom roll cages. Every product is designed and built in-house with both performance and style in mind.
Jared continues to be a hands-on leader. His personal Talon, used for prototyping, was the first in the country to run 40" tires without portals and features TTC’s exclusive hydraulic steering kit. More than just a business owner, he remains an active part of the off-road community—attending wheeling trips and sharing knowledge in online forums.
From performing under stage lights to welding under shop lights, Jared Doster’s journey is a testament to innovation, hustle, and staying true to your roots. Texas Tough Customs is more than a business—it’s proof that passion, perseverance, and hands-on ingenuity can build something extraordinary. With groundbreaking developments like hydraulic steering and rear-steer options on the horizon, TTC isn’t just pushing limits—it’s forging a legacy that’s only just beginning.
