When Cait Lauria became a dog groomer more than 11 years ago, she soon realized her end goal was to go mobile.

“I had been at a dog salon initially, but after doing some grooming house calls, I noticed that dogs felt more comfortable in their own home,” she says. “Some of the bigger salons can be noisy and stressful with multiple dogs going in and out at once.”

In 2011 she started her mobile dog grooming business from the back of her Jeep and hasn’t looked back.

“For the busy dog owner who works, it's a great way to have their dog taken care of; the convenience is what attracts people to mobile grooming for sure.”

Last fall she opened what she calls her flagship salon, Groomington Coat Factory in Midland Park, a home base for her mobile trucks and a place for clients who want to bring their dog into a small grooming salon for individualized care.

“The difference with us is the dogs aren’t sitting around waiting for their services. Like a hair salon, each dog has their own stylist who stays with them the whole time they are here, and we only have a few dogs in at once,” she says.

All-inclusive services at both the Groomington salon and mobile truck include a premium shampoo and condition, a deep facial and hydro massage, nail trimming and ear cleaning. And one day a month is cat grooming day.

“We try to serve two needs with Groomington,” she says. “The convenience of mobile grooming and the one-on-one service of the salon.”
