With over 35 years of experience in the medical field, Liz Collins dedicated much of her life to caring for others as a Registered Nurse. She worked across nearly every area of nursing, but over time, the stress and emotional toll of the profession led to burnout. Eventually, she reached a point where she knew it was time for a change.

That change came in the late 1990s to early 2000s, when Liz attended a floral class at what was then Garden Ridge Pottery (now At Home). The class focused on the fundamentals of floral arranging and wreath-making. She was captivated. Inspired and energized, she began creating her own floral designs.

A turning point came while she was still working in the ICU. Her husband, a professional clothier who often meets clients in their homes or offices, had taken one of her Christmas wreaths to show a client. To Liz’s surprise, he called her, full of excitement, to share that the wreath had sold for $250. In that moment Liz was in awe and that moment sparked a bold decision: she would leave nursing behind and pursue floral design full-time.

Today, Liz is the creative force behind Liz Silk Creations, where she specializes in designing elegant, custom wreaths and centerpieces. Each piece is made to order, tailored to the customer’s specifications. Her seasonal collections span Valentine's Day, Spring, Summer, Fall, Halloween, and Christmas—with the months from September to December being her busiest season.

In addition to silk arrangements, Liz also designs fresh flower bouquets for special occasions such as Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, new baby celebrations, get well wishes, Boss’s Day and more. During football season, she creates elaborate Homecoming mums and garters for high school students, a tradition she takes great pride in.
