This November, we honor veterans who have transitioned from serving our country to serving our community as business owners. Their leadership, resilience, and dedication continue to inspire. Let’s support and celebrate their contributions, both in uniform and in the businesses they now lead.
Heather Herlong - US Army, E4, 91B Field | Para-Medic
Owner - Heather Herlong Events, LLC
Heather empowers individuals and businesses by creating impactful, strategic event experiences. Specializing in event planning for entrepreneurs and corporate executives, she focuses on practical solutions that drive growth through meaningful annual events. Dedicated to making a real difference, Heather blends her passion for helping others with her professional expertise. Outside of work, she enjoys reading two books a month, volunteering, crafting, riding horses, fishing, traveling, and spending time at the range. Her favorite saying is Albert Einstein’s, “Live as though everything is a miracle.”
Ben Carter - Technical Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force from 2012 - 2022
Owner - MACH ONE Epoxy Floors
Inspired by his father, a Navy Vietnam veteran, and his uncle, a retired U.S. Air Force Colonel. Originally aspiring to be a rockstar, Ben’s life took a different path when he enlisted. One of his most memorable experiences was when a 2,000-pound bomb fell off his lift truck without detonating, a moment that could’ve been fatal. His military service taught him resilience, integrity, and the importance of perseverance. These lessons have shaped his role as a father of five and a dedicated husband, guiding him to lead his family and business with a servant’s heart, prioritizing the well-being of his team and customers.
