From Window Washing to HGTV

RSU Contractors' Bathroom Remodels

In 1982, as a student at MTSU, Mark Williams started a small gig washing windows and doing odd jobs. Fast forward to today, and he’s grown what started as his small enterprise into one of the largest remodeling companies in the U.S., RSU Contractors. Their services have been featured on HGTV's Property Brothers with remodels in the Franklin and Brentwood areas. Recently, RSU has partnered with Ellen Sherwood Design. Their showroom in Cool Springs showcases stone, cabinetry and tile. RSU staff can consult with clients at the showroom, and Ellen Sherwood staff offers free design services in the selection of materials.

Bathroom #1

RSU designer Melissa Plank and sales manager John Stafford say bathrooms with white subway tile, glass and clean lines have been popular for a few years and, in the past two years, clients have been asking for bathtubs contained within the shower. It gives space-saving functionality with no need to worry about splashing on the floor after your bath. This remodeled bathroom was featured on Property Brothers.

Bathroom #2

The second bathroom uses shower tiles that have a retro look, like an Edwardian style. Melissa and John say that many tile designs are inspired by classic looks of bygone years. The freestanding bathtub looks more compact because it’s not fixed to a wall, although it can hold the standard amount of water. Being freestanding, it makes the floor and room appear bigger.

Bathroom #3

Melissa and John say some clients choose to extend their showers by getting rid of their bathtubs. A different look is achieved in this shower by using tiles with a subtle splash of color within them. Seven out of 10 clients opt to get a full or corner bench for their enlarged showers, depending on space. A necessary feature that clients repeatedly ask for is a niche to hold their shampoo.
