Full Circle Moment

Abby Johnson Believes in Johns Creek

Meet Johns Creek’s Abby Johnson, mother of two daughters and owner of Abby Johnson Interiors in Peachtree Corners.

You grew up in Johns Creek and now you’re raising your girls here. That's the sweetest!

Yes, in Johns Creek people ARE the identity of town. We are a city that is inclusive and hospitable.  All are welcomed here.

Growing up, the youth leader and volunteers at Mt. Pisgah UMC invested weekly in my spiritual growth. My parents credit them for much of my character development in those impactful years.

The full-circle moments are what have impacted me the most now that I have become a mother. For example, watching my girls celebrate their birthdays at Newtown Park, where I spent many a Saturday afternoon as a teen, marking special milestones at Stoney River where we used to dine every Friday night growing up, surrounded by a community that felt like family.

And I couldn’t speak about my life in Johns Creek without mentioning the Atlanta Athletic Club, where I was so fortunate to grow up, immersed in a tight knit, loving group of people who support and champion one another through all stages of life.

We couldn’t ask for a better community to do life with here in Johns Creek.

As an interior designer, how would you describe the Johns Creek vibe, the quintessential style of homeowners here?

We are a traditional city, and that is reflected in how we dress our homes. However, Johns Creek is also a young city at just 17 years old, which leaves a mark on the style of our interiors. We mix fresh color palettes and updated pieces with our cherished antiques. Just as our town is a blend of lovely families from all walks of life, our homes too are a thoughtful curation.

What are your plans for Mother's Day?

Our family is surrounded by girls - and we love it that way!  One of our favorite traditions is a mother-daughter tea at the Atlanta Athletic Club that I attend with my mom and two daughters. It is over the top in all things girly and prissy. I am excited this year to include my two soon-to-be bonus daughters!

Giving back is important to you. How do you share your gifts?

With us both having type O-negative blood, my mom instilled in me early on the importance of giving back to our community through blood donation at the Red Cross. It is such an easy sacrifice that we can offer, with a huge life saving impact.

In 2019 our family completed a 10-week campaign with Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, supporting my twin brother as he raised over $212,000 in honor of my late husband who passed away from cancer in 2011.
